Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | I'm looking to the insight of the board. I can't seem to find a thread about this, forgive if it's been beaten to death already. What would you recommend as the best type of Hot box to buy? Suggestions are much appreciated.... O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | I was told that if your cable box is a CT22xx that you can pick up a RTF (RFT?) Gold tester for $40 off of EBay. This is not a hot box. It is a tester. No, No, No!., This is my last post ever. And I mean it this time.!

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | X-Filed, it's all dependant on what box you are using from your cable company. There are a few brands out there, but this discussion really shouldn't go too in-depth on the board. Try Ebay, and do a search for "cable descramblers" - you'll see a ton of them. AIM me if you like, I'll try to help ya (I'm looking for one again, one of mine died after 4 years of service). You can reach me through AIM or email. Feel free to contact me if you have any board questions, techie (PC) questions, or even if you just wanna chat.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Addressable means the cable company can "talk" to your box through a series of signals - basically, you want to watch HBO, so you call them and say "give me HBO", they hit a switch, your box unlocks the HBO channel number, and they charge you for it. This is usually only the case with a box supplied from your cable company. Unaddressable means all the channels on the box are unlocked, so the "turn on/turn off channel" signal coming from the cable company is ignored. As far as I know, all boxes purchased outside of your cable company are unaddressable. You can reach me through AIM or email. Feel free to contact me if you have any board questions, techie (PC) questions, or even if you just wanna chat.

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 | An uncle of mine actually has an even better option than the hot box. He has a splitter that acts like a hot box. He can hook as many as three sets to it. Every set that has it gets all of the channels. I don't know if you need you local service provider's box for it to work, but the shit is awesome.
