| O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01  | wow. this game is insane. I got it a few days ago and have put about 10-15 hours into it, which i cant say i have done for any fighter other than soul calibur on DC. The gameplay is amazing. This isnt really a button smashing game, though some characters do have the PPP and KKK type combos that make it easy for beginners to pick up and play. The moves link together flawlessly and throws always seem to be naturally executed and dont feel forced like they did in Tobal no.1. And while they arent the main aspect of the fighting, they do come into play much more than they do in the tekken games. The graphics are great and it shows when someone like Lei is fighting in his flowing monk garb. The wind makes his robe thing fly thorugh the air and it adds a really nice touch. the arenas are very cool as well. some have a surface that get kicked around (snow and sand) or altered (tiles cracking) as the fight progresses. The sound, while it is secondary to me, is up to par, except for the character's victory one liners, which are awful to quite awful. all of the characters have varying styles, which not only make it challenging to learn to play as them, but to fight and defend against as well. take for example jacky and lau. youll be doing a lot of blocking and evading against them due to their extensive combo usage. then you'll be on an almost constane offensive against a guy like Shun, who waits for you to leave yourself open. The different modes in this game add so much replay value. There are the standard arcade and Vs. modes, and then there is Kumite. Kumite adds almost an rpg-ish quality to the game. You progress through endless fights increasing you experience level and ranking, all the while picking up little items to customize your character. For instance, my character, Lion (who's ring name is brodieman), is now wearing a beanie and a nose ring. The training modes are great. There is a "free training" where you set yourself up in different situations and then practice. Then theres the "trial" which is an elaborate tutorial which is broken up into many subcategories. this helps a lot. then there is the "command" mode where you learn how to do the characters move, one by one. and every move is complete with an optional demonstration if your having trouble. well, anyway. go buy it  AIM | E-MAIL | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 02 | VF4 is amazing, i just got Tekken 4 (Japanese version) haven't played it too much, but VF4 DOES look better, Tekken has VF4 beat on envrionments, but VF4 character models are much more detailed. VF4 is amazing, i got my ass handed to me though as a beginner, but now i'm rocking Kumite mode with Kage. You'll see its my fault, Angels stabbing me inside Nothing changes, Just rearranges For me, this time | ||||
