O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | from what I understand, the progression of video quality goes like this (from worst to best) : RF-Jack (coax to adapter) straight-up coax (cable-ready TV, for example) S-Video Component Video so to answer, S-Video should give you a better picture than your standard RCA-Jack would - but on some sets, the difference is barely noticeable (and sometimes worse). You might have to tweak the vid settings on the input channel that displays the s-vid feed to make it look good ( I did on my old set) but it does usually look better. Of course, you could go buy a nice 36" Sony HDTV-ready set like mine and play your games in sweet digital clarity - but the console would have to provide component outputs (and I'm not sure if the PS2 does - I know my X-Box does). You can reach me through AIM or email. I really don't give a fuck as to which one you use.

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 | I believe someone somewhere else on the board provided a more technical description, but you can get cables for the PS2 that have RCA, S-Video (I think this comes with the box), or Component outputs. I switched from the S-Video to the Component and saw a significant difference. Not so much in the games, but in movies that I play. The Fifth Element is great for testing this sort of thing out. And yes, Goat, I am jealous of your TV. AIM | E-mail | ||||
