If I'm not mistaken, wasn't ME the first Windows OS to do away with Dos-based apps and support? Or is that XP?

Either way, you should have some success playing a DOS game in the DOS window inside the Windows shell (DOS Prompt). I used to do it a lot when I played DOOM a while back.

As far as the Flight Sim goes, sorry, can't help you there - not my kinda game.

Horny-According to Gateway, no you can't play DOS based games on ME, there is a way, but I am not a programmer. Something to do with pif files.

And since was gateway support good? Go to your start menu and programs and there should be a MS-DOS virtual prompt. Trust me it can be done.

Indeed it can - I just ran DOOM (reinstalled the fucker to be sure I wasn't wrong - I miss this fun game! LOL) and sure enough, runs like a champ.

Gateway support is about as trustwothy as a car salesman. My Fiancee' bought a Gateway (despite the fact I told her to go Dell), and in the minor dealings I've had with them for her, they were basically no help. If you haven't already, give it a shot. I'm on Win98SE, not ME, but if it still supports DOS apps, the DOS prompt should work.

Isn't there an option at shutdown to restart in DOS? I know nothing about ME, nor do I wish to, but if theres not, I would think that means no DOS support. You can always call Microsoft support (that old gag).

There is no option in Shutdown because there is no real-mode dos. There is virtual mode which is just as good.

Doing away with the real mode DOS has really screwed people as far as troubleshooting. There are so many Windows problems, virii, and what have you that can be easily fixed through DOS. Stick with WIN98 until forced otherwise.

usually wimdows me does its self but if it doesn't you have to make a shortcut of that game on the desktop. then right click, go to properties, there should be a button called advanced. click it. the rest is easy. It doesn't work on every ones computer for some reason.

Try happypuppy.com for Flight sims, you could also search for Janes combat simulations they have made tons of good combat flight sims.
