After bringing in 5 million it opening day, FF:TSW fell to 2.6 million on Thursday, and then on Friday, when business should have picked up, it only made 3.91 million. It got destroyed by Legally Blonde which made 7 million and The Score which made 6 million. At this point, it will take a miracle to make 20 million by the end of the weekend. Ugh.

Final Fantasy has a very small following relative to everything and people might think they need to know about the game before seeing the movie and if they don't why bother. I personally never played any of the games but thought the movie was pretty good, yes i'll post a longer review in Seph's designated thread.

Sure, I liked it. But when I read that it cost 210 million dollars to produce, and Square is paying for 90% of it, it makes you wonder if Square can afford it.

It hasn't been released there yet. I guess they are hoping to do some monster business over there. Here, they'll be lucky to do 50 million. FYI, on Saturday it made about 4 million, but it was also outgrossed by Cats and Dogs, in addition to The Score and Legally Blonde. It will likely be fourth on the weekend, and make about 18-19 million over the 5 day period. It'll probably make 11 million on just the weekend. Apparently, Square was hoping for an opening 5-day total of 35 million. It ain't gonna happen. Hopefully Square won't be too damaged from the movie.

I just hope they make enough money on it to make a sequel. The movie was great but it could have been better. Hopefully in a sequel they can improve on it.

I would not call four place and 11.5 million all that bad. It was a tough opening weekend. I think it could be a movie that sticks around in the Theathers for a bit. It was up against "The Score" which looks awsome, cats & Dogs every kid under 10&parent in the world is going to see it. A legally Blonde has every TEEN GIRL going to go see it. So I don't think that the movie will be hurt all that bad.

Unfortunately, this weekend its up against Jurassic PArk 3. Looks like its just a case of bad release time. If they had released in February, it would have been the only good film in the theaters for weeks.

Whackbag, believe it or not, but Final Fantasy TSW was acutally made at Square Honalulu (Damn I can't spell). So I THINK it's just an american movie which means it will be out in Japan probably soon. I agree with worm... who cares what money it makes and does not make. I saw it because I love FF and its storylines and characters... unfortunately since the movie is only 108 minutes long, it really does not have enough time to fully develop the characters and story, leaving many movie goers unfullfilled. I, however, still thought it was an amazing movie and saw many FF ideals and beliefs portrayed in TSW. Throughout most of the Fantasy's the world is portrayed as having a life force and or balance that is needed to be protected and understood... I saw a lot of similarities with TSW and FFVII. How life returns to the planet in a continous cycle, there's a lifestream.... etc. etc. Heh, am I alone in thinking the ending was like FFVII with the Meteor and Holy clashing together? =)

Also another note, it was great to hear beautifully orchestrated tracks composed by Nobuo Uematsu. He is definately responsible for creating such powerful emotion through music in a video game.

So, to sum it all up... who cares about money? I sure don't, I paid my eight ffin fifty, sat on my ass and enjoyed the show. Of course one thing's for sure... if you place the movie on such a high pedestal and expect it to kick ass in only 108 minutes you'll be dissapointed. You get into RPG's and spend hours getting to learn about characters and the storyline, that's what makes them so amazing. Let us just see what square (cough) pictures will be doing for its next project. Take care guys!
