As popular as Y2J is, it still took him this long for the WWF to make him the champ, so I don't think they would have found time for Beoit to hold the belt. | Hanger-On Registered: Jul. 01 | i dont know about that, it seemed the wwf wanted a wrestler who won the crowd over with pure wrestling ability and without the mic. since he came to the wwf they always gave him the edge over wrestlers such as kurt angle and jericho in all of the matches they had together. i think the wwf wanted to shy away from who had the better catch phrase and move into actually wrestling, especially since the fans reacted so well to it. benoit was fighting the rock and stone cold in submission matches while he was a heel and he won. rock was quoted as saying, "yes, the crippler crossface hurts like hell..". benoit was hhh's partner in crime for a while, and did a good job at it. benoit made a name for himself by wrestling, and i think the wwf has given him much respect for that. he won the wwf championship unofficially twice, and was called the most fightingness intercontinental champion of all time | ||||
