O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | This fucking sucks. They better renew with Directv soon, so I can see them free again. They are making a huge mistake. I think there buy rates are going to drop even more now than they have been. If they were not so goddamn pigheaded they would not be losing a 1 million a month in PPV buys by not having Directv which is what is being reported. The WWF sent out a mass e-mail to cable companies stating that their PPV rates would increase from from $29.95 to $34.95 beginning with the Backlash PPV in April according to PWTorch. Also noted in the e-mail, they attempted to hype Hulk Hogan's WWF return as well as the fact that WrestleMania X8 will be 4 hours again like last year at the same $39.95 price. | ||||

Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | As someone with a hookup, I just want to say: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Seriously, though, it's only five bucks. If you're gonna spend $30, what's stopping you from paying $35? 8 years ago, it was $30, and with inflation, the price has gone down over the past 8 years or so by staying the same if you think about it. Granted, it's a slight difference when inflation is added in, but so is $5. Besides, who cares if it's a lower buyrate if, say, they get more money out of it by the price going up? The one thing I agree with you on is that they are being assholes with the Direct TV situation, but so is Direct TV, so they're both to blame. If they do this, then I think they should hold back on two PPVs a month for at least a year or so. You can't tell the fans, "Well, we're increasing the price AND doubling the PPVs at the same time." It seems that April will only have one PPV from everything I've read on this, and with the plan to split going in effect right after Wrestlemania (supposedly), maybe the plan IS to have one PPV a month for the first few months after the split until going to the 2 a month format to ease fans into it. O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | quote:Not for those of us with a Hot-Box ;) Besides, as mentioned above, it's only $5. If they jacked it up $10 or $15 then I'd say thats a bit much. If they start putting out some serious quality PPV's most people won't mind the increase anyway. You can reach me through AIM or email. Don't be shy, drop a line and say Hi!

Psychopath Registered: Apr. 01 | sory to here about that :-( there was a big uproar here in england as well. we've never had to pay for PPVS before- there used to be four a year on the free channels and the rest were on cable. then channel 4 (free)ended its contract with the wwf so they put the royal rumble on Sky Box Office where we were asked to pay £15 (about $25 i think) for it. theres rumours that all the ppvs will now be like that. most of us didnt get to see the rumble :-( i know we've got away with free ppvs for AGES, and i feel sorry for you guys having to pay so much, but i think it was a very bad move. i dont know who had more control over it- wwf or Sky Box Office, but i dont know a single person who bought it, either in protest or because they didnt have the money, or the channel. my website "WELL, IT'S ONE LOUDER, ISN'T IT?
