O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | MCMAHON SAYS WCW WILL START IN 2 TO 3 WEEKS by Tom Lipke Updated: 5/17/2001 2:52:07 PM This is the report from Bloomberg TV and the interview with Linda McMahon, which ran this morning. They discussed the closing of the XFL, and the effect it had financially and mentally on the company. They also talked about them making movies. The most interesting thing she brought up was that they had purchased WCW and that it was going to be launched in the next 2-3 weeks, which caught me by surprise. ... Thanks to Joe Quinn for also sending a report

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Well, if the XFL is finished, Vince & Co. can spend more time working out how and where WCW will work. 2-3 weeks might be a bit premature, though - weren't they were trying to work out a time slot to have it on TNN on Saturday nights or something? Either way, it should be quite interesting to see how this all pans out. I've got a good feeling about it.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Horny, they don't have a television deal yet, but they might start bringing people in from WCW. I really think things will start happening next Monday night after the PPV. You know the WWF follows the internet websites and messageboards and basically everyone is killing them for how bad their product is. They are in a slump right now and by adding some WCW storylines, it could build some interest in the WWF again. The July PPV is called Invasion so they have to do something soon to build up that PPV. I could see maybe a Lance Storm, a Mike Awesome, and the word is a Booker T to spark some interest. Adding 2-3 guys (Definitely not all, at least not now) from WCW and putting them with Shane would definitely add lots of interest back to wrestling again. Maybe there is a chance they could use the Sunday night Heat Timeslot to start showing WCW if they can't get a tv deal. If the other rumor is true about WWF wanting to leave TNN, TNN is retarded. They do not exist as a network without the WWF. Do you honestly think they are in the top 10 cable companies, for Dukes of Hazzard, Fishing, Bullriding, monster trucks, and Miami Vice. I really don't think so. TNN should worship the ground Vince McMahon walks on and should do everyhting they can to keep him happy and give WCW a good timeslot. O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | quote: I was thinking the same thing, regardless of television deal. It seems the WWF is looking to shake up SNH a bit, now with intermixing a bit of a talk-show format into it. I don't care for it, I'd rather see some wrestling! Instead of showing the no-name matches or filler stuff from Raw and/or Smackdown, I think if WCW talent started showcasing SNH, it might spark better ratings for the show (I don't know of they're bad or not, but I'm sure more people would watch), as well as give a better product to the fans. As far as TNN is concerned, I agree with you 110%. I know the only time I tune into the Pop channel is for Raw. If they dropped it, they'd have nothing but Miami Vice reruns, and your monster truck rally shows. If they were smart, they'd keep Raw and make room for WCW, plain and simple. Otherwise, Vince can do a George Steinbrenner and make his own damn broadcasting channel - he owns enough wrestling footage now to easily do that, as well as provide new stuff on a weekly basis. (I just wish they'd get rid of that "news" thing) Besides, Tazz and MC are just cashing in on their constitutional right: As Americans, they are entitled to a talk show.
