| In terms of a full time replacement for Lawler, it is assumed that either Michael Cole or Tazz will take over for Lawler. Cole has plenty of experience, as he is currently the play by play announcer on both WWF Sunday Night Heat and WWF SmackDown!. Tazz is currently the color commentator on WWF Sunday Night Heat. In the past when Jim Ross was battling Bell's Palsy in late 1998/early 1999, Michael Cole filled in for JR on all WWF programming. Ross has been very complimentary in the past of both Cole and Tazz, which is a good indication that either man could take over. Last night at the SmackDown! Tapings, Ross filled in for the absent Lawler.

| Too bad Gertner has such a potty mouth...he wouldn't be as funny if he couldn't come up with his rhymes...
hey, but Cyrus the Virus is still in the marketplace..and he's a really good color commentator!
Let's see if I'm hearing this right
Is it just I should take
And never endings are glad
To carry out the dead
Your idols burn in the fire
The mob comes crawling out (take us down and out)
I'm reclaiming their minds
Destroying everyone
There's no one here
And people everywhere, you're all alone |

| I hope they do not use Cole.He has no character, which most color analysts have.Tazz would be ideal,he has a good schtick and is sharp as a tack.Plus everyone hates Cole, that little fag!!
Gertner would be ideal, but unlikely.Cyrus is solid, but plays off of Styles too much.Styles was pretty much the setup/straightman for Cyrus.
Now Joey Styles in the WWF would be heaven

| I'd like to see Tazz take over that job over Cole cuz i think Cole is too boring. But even though I'd rather see Tazz take over, his commentating still needs more work/experience.

| I'm thinking it'll be Tazz. He did call the title match at No Way Out, and then was on again on the last Raw. I think the WWF so this coming. Also, he's ten times better than Cole.
Indeed. |

| I agree, Cole is boring and they need a good color man to sit in with JR, I'd love to see Tazz step up and take Lawler's role, it'll infuse some new blood.

| It would have to be Tazz. The Formula is always that they have one play-by-play guy and one color guy. And seeing as how Coach, J.R., M.C., and Hermie are all play-by-play guys, the only color guys they have are Tazz and Dr. Tom Prichard. And honestly, no one wants to see more of Dr. Tom.
Of Course, the federation has a few other alternatives:
1. Stick Vince McMahon back there again. ::shudder::
2. Turn another superstar into a commentator (HBK?)
3. God forbid...new talent!
4. MICHAEL HAYES!!!!!!!

| yeah right Michael Hayes.
Maybe they take Jesse out of the XFL Booth and put him there. That would be great. i loved Jesse in the 80's. But that wont happen for obvious reasons.
How about another great color commentator from the 80's. None other than the Brain. Sure the sport has passed him by a bit over the years, but I wouldnt mind seeing Heenan doing color commentating for the WWF. That probably wont happen either.
How about Mick Foley? He certainly has the charisma. Whatever they do anything is better than Micheael Cole. Well maybe not Kevin Kelly.
and Maybe not Jonathan Coachman. come to think of it Michael Cole doesnt look all that bad now

| Just some other names for ya that I've read elsewhere:
Tazz: He'll get it, at least til they find a long term replacement.
Shane McMahon: Unlikely, as when he comes back, he'll do storylines and not commentary, but he DID do it for a while on Heat and was HILARIOUS with his "BOOOM! OH HOHOHO!" yelling after every hit.
The Brain: Already mentioned and I'd like it to be him, since I think he just sucked at WCW because WCW sucks. Maybe he'll get revitalized with a product that is, you know, good!
Larry Zybysko: If he does get it, all people watching Raw will yell in unison: "Turn it off! Turn it off! TURN IT OFFFFFFFFFFF! Wahahahaha! Turn it offff!"
Shawn Michaels (former Raw commentator in the mid 90s, BTW): Well, wouldnt a return as a friggin commentator be anti-climactic with all the rumors about him?
Mick Foley: he'd be good, but again, his importance and value to the Fed is much more than this.
Don Callis: Best choice. HIRE HIM, VINCE! Or maybe not, its your money I ain't tellin ya how to spend it.
Joel Gertner : Too raunchy.
Kevin Kelly (Hermie), Michael Hayes, Jim Cornette, Michael Cole on RAW and Jim Ross on Smackdown!: See Larry Zybysko.
Opie and Anthony: Back to you, Hermie!
All in all, I think the best two choices ar Brain and Callis.
HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO!

| Give the job to Cyrus!! He is hands down the best color man in the business! he learned to play off of joey, and can learn to play off of jr in no time at all!! don't just dump him in right away though...let cole take heat for not being hte king, then after about a month, have cyrus walk out and punk out cole and just say, "this is my job now loser" or something like that...

| How about instead of Tazz announcing, he does what he is actually good at doing. Wrestling!! He has got to have the most annoying laugh outside of limo driver Anthony. Maybe him and Michael Cole should have a match for the job and Tazz would lose, because he is a scrub in the WWF. Just another example of great WWF talent that is waisted

| I hope Tazz doesn't do it, I personally can't stand the sound of his voice, and I would prefer like Tom Pritchard or something like that.
