| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01  | Sources have confirmed that Jerry Lawler was not even under an official WWF contract when he left the company this week. Lawler did not sign the contract that Jim Ross mentioned in his Ross Report a few weeks ago. Lawler had been working without a contract with the company since late last year. When his contract was up, he sent feelers to WCW and used them as leverage to get a pay raise from the WWF. The feelers were a total bluff and he got called on it. Vince McMahon found out that not only had Lawler not received an offer, but also Brad Siegel wasn't even sure who Lawler was when he was told about the opportunity to hire him. Lawler then negotiated with the WWF and a new agreement was reached. This was the agreement Ross noted in his report earlier in the month. Though they renegotiated his deal, Lawler never sent back the signed contract, thus meaning he is contractually free to sign with WCW. Word has it that Eric Bischoff was making attempts to get into contact with Lawler earlier today and may have succeeded. Among other inquiries, it remains a mystery what the trigger was that prompted Vince McMahon to fire Kat and accept Lawler's resignation. Kat was scheduled for several segments on Raw, which were discussed at a production meeting with Lawler around 2 p.m. that day. Two hours later Ross pulled Lawler aside and told him that a decision had been made to fire Kat and this is when Lawler stated he would walk with her. Lawler confronted Vince McMahon, who apparently offered no explanation for the firing, other than Kat had been a discipline problem. Lawler resigned because McMahon wouldn't withdraw his decision to fire his wife. Kat did have a reputation for being abrasive at times to various personalities and not endearing herself to Chyna and others. The main theory is that if there wasn't a trigger incident that has yet to come out yet, that McMahon was more willing to get back at Lawler for testing the waters in WCW and trying to leverage a better deal.  ~Matt/Froy from Jersey The Hell Hole Official Protector of Gay Marco & SwampJunk...if he ever decides to post. And Lawler and Mick will be back for the Pay Per View this month? I assume you are talking about JR, and said Mick, and technically there is no PPV this month, Wrestlemania is on April 1, and It doesnt look like Jerry Lawler will be there | ||||
