| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | I'm tryin out to be a DJ for a music show on my college radio station and I need to submit a 15 minute tape and an idea proposal by next week. Supposedly, the more unique the idea is, the better the chance I get a show. My first inclination: "2 Hours of Anal Cunt" might not fly so I was wondering if you folks had any suggestions. I was thinkin maybe somethin with 80's glam rock... | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | LMAO, Slash Well, I did a 3-hour hard rock show when I was in school (it got progressively louder and heavier as the morning went on)...Just make sure you pick music that you know a lot about so you don't sound like a tool. Try to pick a format unique to the station. If you do a specialty show, you usually have to bring in most of the music yourself, so either make sure you have a good collection from which to choose or a good burner. If you're doing a show with their format (which station is it BTW?)- which is also much easier- then just come up with a unique and or wacky persona. In good radio IMO, you either have to be a good entertainer or really knowledgeable about the music you're playing. Hope this helps! The station is 89.1 WNYU, but I would be getting a show on its AM component which is basically only broadcast over the internet and on campus. There is no set format, people just pick an idea for a show and run with it. I do not have a big music collection but my roomates do and a burner so I think I can manage.
