Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 ![]() | 09.18.2001 7:32 PM EDT "Come Together: A Night for John Lennon," a tribute concert for the former Beatle featuring Stone Temple Pilots, Beck and Alanis Morissette, will be broadcast live from New York after being postponed in the wake of last week's terrorist attacks. The event will take place and air on October 2, according to a TNT spokesperson. The sixth installment of the cable network's TNT Master's Series was to be taped last Thursday and broadcast on what would have been Lennon's 61st birthday, October 9 (see "Beck, STP, Alanis Come Together For John Lennon"). The fundraising concert has been renamed "Come Together: A Night for John Lennon's Words & Music, Dedicated to New York City & Its People." In addition to its original beneficiaries — the Violence Policy Center and the Brady Center To Prevent Gun Violence, united with the Million Mom March — the event will assist the American Red Cross, the September 11th Fund, the International Association of Fire Fighters, the New York Fraternal Order of Police WTC Fund, the National Organization for Victim Assistance and the Twin Towers Fund. The show's lineup, which also features Nelly Furtado, Lou Reed, Marc Anthony, Moby, Seal, Cyndi Lauper and Shelby Lynne, has been updated to include Dave Matthews, the Isley Brothers and Yolanda Adams. Additional artists are expected to be announced shortly. Tickets for the postponed event, which is scheduled to take place at Radio City Music Hall, will be honored on October 2. —Joe D'Angelo http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1448953/20 010918/story.jhtml?headlines=true

Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 ![]() | Lennon Tribute Rescheduled September 19, 8 p.m. ET, RollingStone.com "Come Together: A Night For John Lennon's Words and Music," the TNT tribute to the late Beatle, has been rescheduled for October 2nd at New York City's Radio City Music Hall. The event was originally scheduled to take place tomorrow night, but was pushed back because of last week's terrorist attacks. "Come Together" will now be televised live and is being billed as "a concert of prayer and healing for New York City" to benefit the American Red Cross and several other funds and relief organizations tied to the tragedy. "The appropriateness of John Lennon's words, message and music is even more timely now," said TNT executive vice president and general manager Ken Ehrlich. Dave Matthews and the Isley Brothers will now join Nelly Furtado, Moby, Lou Reed, Shelby Lynne, Stone Temple Pilots, Seal, Marc Anthony, Cyndi Lauper and Yolanda Adams to perform Lennon's songs, with more artists expected to be added soon. Beck has pulled out of the event. Dave Stewart will still serve as the musical director, and Kevin Spacey will host. "Come Together" is part of TNT's Master Series, which has previously assembled all-star musical lineups to honor Brian Wilson, Joni Mitchell, Bob Marley, Johnny Cash and others ![]() "For all we have and are, for all our children's fate, stand up and take the war, the Hun is at the gate!" --- Rudyard Kipling She-Mail Me Here

Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 ![]() | HUGE FUCK YOU to Cyndi Lauper, she totally ruined what could have been one of the most emotional moments i have ever seen. The scene is the john lennon special tonight. They fade to Central Park a group of people surrounding the strawberry fields memorial, candles burning, people crying, signs begging for peace. Then one of the most beautiful songs ever written words so moving and who do they get to sing it? Someone with a great voice, a musician well respected and adorned? Ofcourse Cyndi Lauper was the first to pop into my head, how about you? She totally ruined the moment and the song, i would have much rather had Dave Matthews who also didnt fair well but woulda been better or atleast sean lennon. The special had it's moments but not fitting of the memory of John Lennon and FUCK YOU Yoko for once again alienating Johns first born son Julian lennon from being their to honor his father. Unlike Sean atleast Julian has talent and loved his dad. ![]() "These dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom; and that this government of the people, by the people for the people, shall not perish from the earth." -- Abraham Lincoln She-Mail Me Here

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 ![]() | Not that it makes it right but supposivly, Lauper is a long time friend of Yoko.. and those who watched saw that it was more of a Yoko thing then Lennon. Almost every picture they showed had YOKO in it. I didn't get to watch it yet, but I was at Radio City. The crowd was awesome. DM and STP were awesome.. but I agree with you from previous posts.. Oaisis??? and Jullian??? There was alot of people missing that SHOULD have been there (besides no shows Aerosmith (wtf I saw Stephen Tyler there), Beck, Isley Bros and Guliani was supposed to be there for a speech but also didn't show).. but it was for a good cause (gun violence origionally and now for the city) and it was definitly an experience to be there.. I met James Gondofini (sp) =o) and idunno if they showed it at the end, but during Give Peace a Chance Moby took out his camera and started taking pix of the audience.. he always makes me laugh ![]() I just can't believe all the things people say. Why must I deal with this shit every fucking day. ever stop to think ..... and forget to start again??

I thought it was best part of night. quote: Yeah, once again, FU to Yoko, this time especially for leaving Julian out. In case you missed it, the TV was a Yoko production. We insult her every day on TV And wonder why she has no guts or confidence When she's young we kill her will to be free While telling her not to be so smart we put her down for being so dumb Woman is the nigger of the world Yes she is...if you don't believe me, take a look at the one you're with Woman is the slave to the slaves Yes she is...if you believe me, you better scream about it We make her paint her face and dance We make her paint her face and dance We make her paint her face and dance We make her paint her face and dance We make her paint her face and dance We make her paint her face and dance ![]()
