Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | Tom Morello is the fucking master of the guitar. On a lot of RATM's earlier stuff, they put a little note at the back of the CD-insert stating "All sounds made by guitar, bass, drums, and vocals" cause people couldn't believe the sounds Tom got out of his guitars. However, my favorite solo isn't really that much of a solo, and it's played on a bass. It's in "YYZ" by Rush, and it's the part where the drums and the bass go back and forth a couple of times doing mini-solos. The second one the bass plays (the one that ends on the natural harmonic, y'know, that "ping-ish" sound) just fucking rocks in my opinion. "In the Light" by Zepplin also does some serious rockin'.

There is a library of solos that have stuck out in their originality, influence, artistry, and techniques. Rageparty, Listen, does Rage have good songs...Yes. Is Tom an amazing guitarist...NO. I believe in giving credit to where credits due. Tom’s “Bulls on Parade†scratch effect is Classic. But Guerrilla radio BLOWS. I can and have played this song. It's a nothing solo... Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | Being a guitar player myself, I give credit to Tom Morello with his innovations with what the guitar can sound like. But a lot of the time it's an easy solo under a wah-wah pedal or a harmonizer. Solos by people like Clapton, Hedrix and even Dimebag Darrel are more complex and thought-out than 99.9% of the solos RATM has had. Morello is one of the best of his generation, but not exactly due to his extensive solos. "THE CAR HAD A SIGN THAT SAID CRITTERS OF HOLLYWOOD, YOU DUMB FUCK!!!" | ||||
