| O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00  | OK, so we know Ozzfest is gonna royally suck this year, pretty much...so here's the alternative from www.antimusic.com: musicNEWS: PanteraFest to feature Slayer and Static-X 3-5-01 It looks at though Pantera are moving forward with plans to have their own Ozzfest style tour this summer. Pantera’s Rex Brown told antiMUSIC last year that the band would happily step in and fill Ozzy’s shoes and bring the metal to the masses. (At that point the word was Ozzfest 2000 was to be the last). Staying true to their word, Pantera have announced initial plans for a summer tour that will kick off in June. Since an official tour name has yet to be announced, we have taken it upon ourselves to nickname the tour PanteraFest. Two bands are already confirmed for the tour, Slayer and Static-X, with more bands expected to be announced soon. No firm dates have been announced yet, but are expected before April 1st. (let’s hope this isn’t an April fools joke). The news of this tour comes as Pantera completes the final leg of their Real Steel Tour with Soulfly. The band will take the month of April off before embarking on quick tours through Alaska, Korea & Australia in May. Judging by reader reaction to the Ozzfest line-up for 2001, the PanteraFest will not have a hard time competing for fans concert dollars, as the heavy metal faithful should have no problem opting for Pantera and Slayer over Papa Roach and Crazy Town.
