I would have to go with john bonham.

But you gotta give props to the man who made the drums a solo instrument and the man who did the first ever drum solo and who was so fast you couldnt keep track of his handsand that man was Gene krupa.

I gotta agree with all three of those drummers. Nothing, as far as I'm concerned, beats John Bonham in Moby Dick!

I have to go with Bonham and then Neil Peart from Rush. I have seen him live a few times and he is just amazing. Its unreal. One that tends to go unnoticed except by jazz musicians is Carter Beauford from The Dave Matthew's Band. While he is not one of the best he has some great off tempo stuff that deserves some credit.

Danny Carrey, from TooL.

I know that this is what most would expect me to say, but he is the honest to god reason why i started listening to TooL. He has the best ability to change up everything, and there hasn't been a drummer since the guy from Rush who made as much proper use of the cymbals. His timing and ability are extraordinary .

My choice hands down is Keith Moon. But as of lately I have to give props to John Dalmayan of System Of A Down. That guy is a tight drummer!

Gotta go with Neil Peart as the best rock drummer ever, with Mike Portnoy a close second.

Honorable mentions to Ginger Baker and Dave Lombardo.

I would have to agree, Mike Portnoy is the best! I had the pleasure of meeting him. My friend just recorded their new album.
Terry Bosio is close though, some of his Zappa work as well as Mr. Bungle's 1st album is sick!
