| Waylon Jennings passed away today at his home in Arizona. Considered one of the original country outlaws, along with Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, he had 16 #1 hits and helped defined the country rebel attitude that was popular in the 70's and 80's. He was also famous for signing the theme song to "The Dukes of Hazzard". Waylon Jennings was 64.
Cowboys ain't easy to love and they're harder to hold.
They'd rather give you a song than diamonds or gold.
Lonestar belt buckles and old faded levis,
And each night begins a new day.
If you don't understand him, an' he don't die young,
He'll prob'ly just ride away.
Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys.
Don't let 'em pick guitars or drive them old trucks.
Let 'em be doctors and lawyers and such.
Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys.
'Cos they'll never stay home and they're always alone.
Even with someone they love.
Cowboys like smokey old pool rooms and clear mountain mornings,
Little warm puppies and children and girls of the night.
Them that don't know him won't like him and them that do,
Sometimes won't know how to take him.
He ain't wrong, he's just different but his pride won't let him,
Do things to make you think he's right.
Sometimes we can choose the path we follow. Sometimes our choices are made for us. And sometimes we have no choice at all.

| Many people dont realize that he gave his seat on Buddy Holly's plane to the Big Bopper. He cheated death then but age caught up with him.
FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES
Blame it all on my roots, I showed up in boots
And ruined your black tie affair
The last one to show, the last one to know
The last one you thought you’d see there
I saw the surprise, and the fear in his eyes
When I took his glass of champagne
Then I toasted you, said honey we may be through
But you’ll never hear me complain
Chorus
Cause I’ve got friends in low places
Where the whiskey drowns and there beer chases
My blues away and I’ll be OK
Hey, I’m not big on social graces
Think I’ll slip on down to the Oasis
Oh I’ve got friends in low places
I guess I was wrong. I just don’t belong
But then I’ve been there before
Everything’s all right, I’ll just say goodnight
And I’ll show myself to the door
Hey, I didn’t mean to cause a big scene
But give me an hour and then
I’ll be as high as this ivory tower
That you’re livin’ in
Repeat Chorus

| WAYMORE'S BLUES
Well I woke up this morning it was drizzling rain
Around the curve called a passenger train
I heard somebody yodel and a hobo moan
Jimmy he's dead it's been a long time gone
Been a long time gone
A long time gone
If you want to get to heaven got to d-i-e
You got to put on your coat and t-i-e
Want to get the rabbit out of the l-o-g
Gotta make a commotion like a d-o-g
Like a d-o-g
Like a d-o-g
I gotta good woman what's the matter with me
What makes me want to love every woman I see
I was traveling when I met her now I'm traveling again
And every women she sees looks like a place I came in
Looks like a place I came in
Place I came in
I got my name painted on my shirt
I ain't no ordinary dude, I don't have to work
I don't have to work
WAYMORE'S BLUES (PART II)
Friday night comes too late, boys
And Monday morning comes too soon
Friday night comes too late, boys
And Monday morning comes too soon
Every midnight every Sunday
I'm left howling at the moon
I'm a little rough and rowdy
And that's the better side of me
I'm a little rough and rowdy
And that's the better side of me
If you come up from the wrong side
I'll be obliged to set you free
I couldn't make out with a credit card
In that cat house over there
I couldn't make out with a credit card
In that cat house over there
Women got my number
But they don't call
'Cause they don't care
When it comes to women, boys
I like to keep one in reserve
When it comes to women, boys
I like to keep one in reserve
It don't take a lot of loving
But it sure takes a lot of nerve
Women, women, women
They've got all I need to live
Women, women, women
They've got all I need to live
Though it ain't easy livin' with'em
I don't like the alternative
