O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jul. 00 ![]() | Anyone else catch Headliners & Legends last night on VH1? Was supposed to be Pink Floyd but, somehow they spent about 50 minutes on Syd and the last 10 on Floyd. I guess I should know better than to expect anything more of VH1. Was still somewhat entertaining on a shitty monday night with nothing else on TV. ![]() Long Live the "Syndication Underground"

The lunatic is on the grass The lunatic is on the grass Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs Got to keep the loonies on the path The lunatic is in the hall The lunatics are in my hall The paper holds their folded faces to the floor And every day the paper boy brings more And if the dam breaks open many years too soon And if there is no room upon the hill And if your head explodes with dark forbodings too I'll see you on the dark side of the moon The lunatic is in my head The lunatic is in my head You raise the blade, you make the change You re-arrange me 'till I'm sane You lock the door And throw away the key There's someone in my head but it's not me. And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear You shout and no one seems to hear And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes I'll see you on the dark side of the moon ![]()

O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 ![]() | I thought the same thing when I saw the show a few months ago. Sure Syd has to be mentioned, but he only cut one album with the band, and it wasn't even one of their biggest. I was extremely disappointed with the show, especially considering all the inner-turmoil and politics between the band, the Dave & Roger fights, Roger throwing out Rick Wright, the lawsuits over the name, etc. ![]() I believe in the Faith... that can save me. Hanger-On Registered: Mar. 02 ![]() | Missed it--was is suppose to be their early years, all of the years, or what? How was it promoted? I use to love Floyd back in the day, even THE FINAL CUT (although it was really just a Roger Waters solo album). The 1980s "Lee-Press-On" Floyd turned me off. I had a friend who spent years getting all of the rights to open the official Pink Floyd museum in the United States (North Carolina, no less!) He had all sorts of props, and recordings and cool stuff, and was actually getting the permission of everyone, but Roger Waters put the clamp down on it. He had a great story about actually talking with Syd and his mother. ![]() "These are things I look for in the young MD"

O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jul. 00 ![]() | It was billed as the history of Pink Floyd. They just spent too much time on the early years. And, the last 3 or 4 minutes they covered the fact that Waters has continued as a soloist and gilmour, mason and, right have released subsequent albumns under the name Pink Floyd. Don't think they named any of them. There have been what... three in the past 10 to 15 years. Which is kinda my point. In an hour long show they spent at least 45 minutes on the first 5 years or so of the band's existance. Obviously Syd Barrett was reason that there was even a band but, you've got another 30 years to cover in the next 15 minutes. If they went into as much detail on the rest of the band's history the program would have been close to five hours long. I agree with froy. It would have been nice to get some inside info on the waters/gilmour situation. And, maybe to have concentrated more on the peak years of dark side of the moon, wish you were here and, the wall. I also found it quite telling that in all of the interview footage no two band members were ever seen together. You expect roger to be on his own but, why couldn't they get mason, right and, gilmour into the same building together? ![]() Long Live the "Syndication Underground"

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 ![]() | I'm sure most have seen it, but for those who haven't, this is quintessential Floyd in their prime. If time/money isn't a problem, I suggest checking out this gem...Barretless of course, Floyd at its greatest. ![]()

This is a fine shoutcaster that plays all floyd albumns (studio recordings only) in their entirety and usually in order. http://pinkfloyd.grapeshot.net:8075 and, here's a Live365 feed of live recordings http://www.live365.com/play/286677 ![]() Long Live the "Syndication Underground" This message was edited by barch97 on 3-19-02 @ 2:45 PM
