Psychopath Registered: Mar. 01 | I know that there are more than just a few fans of the band here. I just wanted to know what are some of your favorite songs and reasons for liking one of the best bands (the best in my opinion) out there. Personally, my favorite song is Pushit, and one of my favorite aspects of the band is how they love to 'tool' with there fans and don't comprimise on their music in order to get it played for the masses. If there were no rewards to reap, No loving embrace to see me through This tedious path I've chosen here, I certainly would've walked away by now. Gonna wait it out.. Hanger-On Registered: Aug. 01 | Pushit is also my favorite song, but I like the slow version that they have on the Salival CD. My reason for loving them is TOOL can sell millions of albums and sell out venues without whoring themsleves out to MTV and the radio. They've said before that they will never make a "radio version" of a song so it'll get played. If you hear a TOOL song that on the radio that is shorter then it is on the album then you know it was shortened by the radio station and not the band That gets my respect right there. It shows me they are making music for the sake of music and they know the end product of their hard work will sell itself. This message was edited by Fuct on 4-12-02 @ 2:18 AM

Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | I like Tool because they're a good band, good musicians, and they create and play good music. Of course, I'll say that about every other band and/or artist I listen to, but what other reason is there? Cool haircuts? Oh, and lachrymology is a bonus too... Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 | I think Tool is one of the few bands who can take as much time between cds as they do, and fans don't bitch. Also not many bands cds have gotter progressivly better from release to release. I can't stop listening to Lateralus. It is one of the most complete cds I've ever heard. I think my favorite is Disposition/Reflection/Triad. I don't understand why they broke it up on the cd. I was so surprised the first time I saw them live. I never thought they could sound as good as they do recorded. I was wrong. They put on such an entertaining show musicaly and visualy.

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 01 | It's almost a year since the album came out and I still haven't figured out some songs, and I still find something new in each song. Lateralus is definitely the most complete album that I have heard. And 71PLYMOUTH, explain why you think TooL stinks. I always like to hear legitimate reasons why people don't like the band. It's not because I think down on anyone who doesn't like them, I know everyone has different musical tastes. I am just curious as to why they don't like them. O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01 | They do kick ass, but what's with that Mantra song on Lateralus? I know Parabol is like connected to Parabola but it is fucked up. They should keep those weird instrumental songs off of the CD, some people may like it but I hate those songs!

Psychopath Registered: Jan. 02 | I think my main reason for liking Tool is because they write the whole song. So many bands force their songs to end or just jam pointlessly, but Tool has a way of making each song start, progress, and finish EXACTLY the way it should. I have a few favorites by them. Aemina (Bill Hicks ideas and a great song), Third Eye (No one has a song that sounds like this), Hooker with a Penis (a big fuck you to all the stupid fans of bands that think they own the band), and Lateralus (just an amazing song).

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 01 | To the band, the instrumental lead in's are as important as the song that it intros. And for anyone wishing to see Parabol(a) video here is the link. I personally think its the best video that they have done. It's a great video with a great song. www.shrillt.com If there were no rewards to reap, No loving embrace to see me through This tedious path I've chosen here, I certainly would've walked away by now. Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 | Definatley. When you take the instrumentals/lead in songs and listen to them by themselves, they don't serve a purpose, Like -Ions. But Tool is a band that its better to listen to the whole cd at a time. Thats why they're usefull. It transitions from song to song.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01 | I don't think Mantra is an Intro to anything, it sounds completeley different from the next song. IMO, Lateralus is the worst of the Tool Albums. My favorite has to be Aenema, or Undertow. Some of the Tool songs are WAY too long, like Reflection. Great song, but its streched out WAY too far. Don't get me wrong, I like Tool but they are exaggerating with their message, just like Rage Against the Machine exaggerated with theirs.

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 01 | I think that Lateralus is the best album yet. It's almost a year since it's release and I am still imerced in the album. I haven't listened to AEnima (with the exception of Pushit) in at least 4 months. TOOL is just getting better and better in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I love all everyone of their albums. Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 | Lateralus is by far the best cd. But I guess everyone has their opinion. Im surprised this hasnt become a "Tool sucks, this band is better" thread. I think this cd is much more elegant in how the layers of sound are molded together. You can pick a sound and follow it through the entire song. I am a drummer, and when I go to shows I always watch the drummers. I was surprised as to how many soundsn Danney control. And it pisses me off how he makes things look so easy to play, and meanwhile I look like an idiot trying to play along to the cd. Damn I wish I was that good.
