| Star Wars episode 2 has been out for awhile and it's time to think of ideas for episode 3 such as when/how exactly does Anakin become Darth, will it end ona downnote, an upnote, etc. so I'm just wondering what ideas is there for episode 3.
1. Dialogue
I know people will spout out the old excuses "oh the first star wars movies weren't known for their great dialogue" and they weren't, true BUT what is preventing Lucas from hiring a screenwriter to better formulate concepts into words. In addition, neither Episode 1 or 2 has had very memorable lines. Episodes 4-6 has had throway lines that have made it into pop culture history, the current episiode has nothing. What made the first movies' dialogue better is the presence of
2. Better Acting and Characters
and yes, the first Star Wars movies had pretty bad acting throughout but for some reason it worked. The banter between Solo and Leia was and is still classic, but now there are no two characters who banter such as that or who really are fun enough to watch. The courting between Padme/Anakin was painful, maybe now that they'er over that they'd be a better couple to watch.
3. Remember Scope
In the originals, you got an idea of scope. First off, the first are an epic trilogy with such a longreaching epicness about them, the new ones don't. Having diners (Spaceballs anyone?) don't help either, the movies are in a time that doesn't need a time. And now everything seems so shiny and new that it's lost it's timeless quality.
Also in the first it never lost that Luke, et al were just really minor players who become major in the battles meanwhile in these it's like these are the major players yet you never get an idea about how important they really are. i dont' know, it's hard to explain.
4. Less CGI
We get it. Lucas can cram each dot of the screen with tons of CGI created characters and ships but that's all they are, just filler. Episode 3 can benefit from less CGI creations, but the creations that are on screen being more important and poigant.
5. Plot points
* Ending- it can end on an up note (birth of the Skywalker children) but doesn't have to.
I know I went off on a tangent, babbling about crap but what are someways you think they can improve E3 or just plot points they should hit on and how it should be hit on.

| My idea is that they should make it in such a manner that it doesn't suck.

| I know that they already filmed a scene where OB1 gives Luke to the Lars family, so the birth will be in the movie. They filmed it when they did the filming in Tunisia for AOTC, because it was the only scene on Tattoine for ep. 3. I hope they go all out in the lightsaber fights in the next one. They were too short in this one. I understand that it took over a year to do the Yoda fight scene, but the first fight scene should have been longer. And the fight between Mace and Jango should have been longer. I hope that they let Bobba Fett be the one to kill Mace in 3. Esp. since they Killed off Boba like a bitch in Jedi. (I know he wasnt really killed, but for the movie purposes, he was.)

| Personally I think Lucas should let this film come out to over two hours. Granted alot of people who aren't big Star Wars fans might not want to sit at the movies for longer than that, but he would be able to fit in a hell of alot more and make the film better in my opinion.

| Crinkle- every Star Wars movie has been over 2 hours. In fact AOTC was nearly 2.5

| You're right I should have been clearer. I didn't really mean half an hour over or whatever, I was trying to say that Lucas should let the film go well over two. I was thinking as far as three and a half.

Lucas on Original Star Wars Trilogy DVDs
Monday, May 27, 2002 12:11 CDT
The latest issue of Star Wars Insider included an interview with George Lucas about the long-awaited DVD. Lucas was asked if there's a possibility of including the original versions (Episodes IV-VI on DVD) as alternate tracks, to show the evolution of the films, showcase the state-of-the-art of the era, and preserve film history.
Lucas said simply "I don't think so. I think of the film as the Special Edition, I don't think of it as the early version, any more than I would put early rough cuts on. I could put four or five rough cuts onto the thing and say, 'This is how it advanced.' I consider the Special Edition as being the final version at this point. I don't even worry about the other ones, because it went through a lot of incarnations to get to the final stage."
Meanwhile, Dark Horizons reports that Lucas spoke with E! News Daily where he was asked the question of why C-3PO doesn't recognize Vader.
"Well, one, his brains have, his memory system has been erased and so has R2's. So, they don't remember anything from the first trilogy. I'm telling you something from Episode 3, but I shouldn't be telling you that, but I think most of the fans already know that".
He also told MTV that Natalie Portman has signed on to be a part of the new scenes being filmed for Star Wars: Ep/isode VI: Return of the Jedi. She'll shoot scenes during the production of Episode III.

| Whats really gonna suck, is when all six are available on DVD/video and you try to watch them start to end. The quality in picture/sound/special effects are going to drop so drastically from ep3 to ep4. Although the story quality will improve.

| There is an old story-treatment that has floated around for years (since JEDI came out) called STAR WARS: EPISODE 3 - THE FALL OF THE REPUBLIC. In it, Obi-Gyn takes Luke to Tantoine while Amadala goes into hiding as Lea's nanny. Only about 1100 days until we find out! S.H.I.T.
