| Hanger-On Registered: Mar. 02  | Bruce, band rising up for another tour By LARRY McSHANE The Associated Press 7/10/02 NEW YORK (AP) -- One week after the July 30 release of his much-anticipated new album, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kick off a 46-city, 46-show barnstorming tour that begins -- where else? -- in New Jersey. The Aug. 7 date at the Continental Airlines Arena launches the first leg of the tour supporting "The Rising," Springsteen's first album with his bandmates since 1984's "Born in the USA." It ends Dec. 13 at the Pepsi Center in Albany. The tour dates were released Wednesday. Springsteen & Co. will play 39 dates in North America and another seven in Europe. Unlike past tours, the Boss will play just a single date in each city. "Our approach is to bring the music out to as wide a cross-section of the country as we could," said Springsteen's manager, Jon Landau. "So we're taking this barnstorming approach -- one city, one show." Fear not, though, Springsteen fans -- the tour will continue into next year, when Bruce and the band visit Australia and Europe before coming back to the United States for a series of multiple shows in major cities next summer. On his 1999-2000 tour with the E Street Band, Springsteen sold out 15 dates in New Jersey and another 10 at Madison Square Garden. One other change for this tour: To add a "looseness and excitement" to the show, there will be no seats on the floor, Landau said. U2 took the same approach on its recent tour. Springsteen's European dates were not finalized, but the band will be playing there between Oct. 14-27. There was no immediate word on ticket prices or when the tickets for each show will go on sale. After the New Jersey show, the tour moves to Washington's MCI Center (Aug. 10), New York's Madison Square Garden (Aug. 12), Cleveland's Gund Arena (Aug. 14) and The Palace in Auburn Hill, Mich. | Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 | Not to validate one of DanaDillon's threads or anything, but I saw Bruce and the E-Street a couple of years ago. Paid $75 for seats BEHIND the stage, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. He put on a non-stop 3-1/2 Hour show. Unbelieveable. AIM | E-mail | ||||

| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | I heard the announcement this morning on the radio and felt the adrenaline surge. I've been waiting for this since July 1st of 2000! I saw him 8 times on his last tour and get tickets to as many shows as I can. I want to try and get tickets for both the NJ & NY shows, the October Philly show and maybe even the Albany & Boston shows... BTW - If you haven't heard Lonesome Day yet, download it, it's amazing.  I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... That someday it may raise me... above these badlands Over The Limit | ||||
