| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01  | (4/24/01, 10 a.m. ET) -- Stone Temple Pilots will release Shangri-La-Deeda, their fifth album and first since group frontman Scott Weiland overcome his heroin troubles, on June 26 from Atlantic Records. The album, named for the Malibu mansion in which it was recorded, will not only present the hard-rocking group to which fans have become accustomed but another side as well--Brazilian music, according to the Los Angeles Times. It seems STP brothers Robert and Dean DeLeo have long been fans of bossa nova composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. "We made the record I think we've been wanting to make for a long time," Dean DeLeo told the publication. "We got into areas we always wanted to tap into but were wary about, because I don't think our fans and even our label were willing to allow us to go there."
