| Columbia Records will release a 19-song, 2-CD album titled "Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band: Live in New York City" on April 3. The album is billed as the soundtrack to a concert film that will air on April 7 on HBO.
The album, which clocks in at more than 130 minutes, will include all of the songs that will air on the HBO special, along with six additional recordings, according to Springsteen's publicist. The music was culled from the June 29 and July 1 shows at New York's Madison Square Garden. The Madison Square Garden shows were the last dates on the band's 1999-2000 world tour, which grossed more than $107 million in North America, according to Pollstar. It was Springsteen's first U.S. tour with the E Street Band in more than a decade.
Two songs that Springsteen debuted on the tour will appear on both the concert film and on the soundtrack: "Land of Hope and Dreams," which was performed on each night of the tour as an encore, and "American Skin," a song that references details of the police shooting of New York street vendor Amadou Diallo.
Diallo died after being hit 19 times in a barrage of 41 bullets fired by police officers who believed he was reaching for a weapon during questioning in February 1999. The song led the president of the Patrolman's Benevolent Association of New York to urge officers who moonlight at local venues to avoid working Springsteen's concerts at Madison Square Garden. At the time, the police organization characterized Springsteen as "trying to fatten his wallet by reopening the wounds of this tragic case at a time when police officers and community members are in a healing period."
According to Springsteen's publicist, 13 tracks that appear on both the HBO broadcast and the double CD are as follows:
My Love Will Not Let You Down
Prove It All Night
Two Hearts

Mansion on the Hill
The River
