What's your favorite cover tune?

Gotta go with Tool's cover of "No Quarter" off the DVD boxset.

Cartman doing "Come Sail Away".

Ok spirit I dont want to argue with you.. BUT BOB DYLAN wrote and originally performed all along the watch tower. I am a huge Hendrix fan probably the biggest you will meet. Hendrix loved Dylan's music so much that he covered BOB DYLAN'S All Aolng the Watch tower. I have read evry book ever writen about Hendrix and I know that Dylan did the original. Here is something for you to read...
quote:

AMG EXPERT REVIEW: With Electric Ladyland, Hendrix took psychedelic experimentation as far as he could within the original Experience trio format. That meant pushing the barriers of late '60s studio technology as far as they could bend, particularly with regard to multitracking and effects that could only be achieved through certain treatments and manipulation of the tape itself. It also meant greater freedom and looseness in the playing and the songwriting, which could be both a plus and a drawback, as the compositions became both less constricted and less concise. Not all of the material here is top-of-the-line, but certainly much of this is Hendrix at his best: the dreamy wah-wah guitars of "Rainy Day, Dream Away" were only matched by the dreaminess of the lyrics, and "Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland)" and "Gypsy Eyes" were also standouts. "1983...(A Merman I Should Turn to Be)" and "Voodoo Chile" were lengthy cuts dominated by jam-like instrumental passages; "Crosstown Traffic" and a cover of Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower," by contrast, were two of his catchiest and most pop-friendly tunes. "Voodoo Chile," "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)," and a cover of Earl King's "Come On" are three of his most determined forays into the blues, albeit the blues as fed through a nearly avant-garde filter. Originally released as a double album, the CD reissue fits the entire recording onto one 75-minute disc. —

Well I can't find proof otherwise, so I guess Ants and Spit are correct. I saw Richie Havens play a few years ago. His intro into a song was "I wrote this song a long time ago, and never recorded it. One day after a show, a young man aproached me and asked if he could use this song and record it. I felt honored and gave the rights. I don't know whether to be happy about the success of the song and of the young man or sad cause noone will ever know." Then he played "All Along the Watchtower". It gave me chills picturing the conversation between him and Dylan. I just can't find the proof of the story. I was hoping someone else would have heard the same. Oh well.

VH1 is doing a new show about cover tunes. It will be hosted by Paul Shafer (of Late Show fame). The bands will have to play any song that is picked and they will be judged on memory and shit like that. Looks like it may be a good show.

Blink 182 doing Dead Man's Curve by Jan and Dean, MxPx doing Take on Me, and Lou Reed doing This Magic Moment

One of the reasons I like punk so much is that their are a billion punk covers of generally obscure songs.
