Megadeth is great but I have to give the edge to Metallica because of better songwriting and a better voice for the lead singer. However, Metallica sold out WAY before Megadeth. | Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | My thoughts. Being in the same band in the beginning puts them on level ground. After the split and the two bands took off, Metallica was the obvious ruler, but Megadeth was a close second. With the hiring of Kirk, Metallica rose to a level where every person in the band had talent and contributed to the music. This made for better contrived songs. Megadeth, although having Mustaine, couldn't keep up with the well balanced Metallica. Now that Metallica is pretty much done. Megadeth steps up with a new album. In the sequence of it all, does that mean Megadeth is in the lead. I don't know. | Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | Well, I'd have to say Metallica on this one, due to the fact that I've seen Metallica live 15 times over the years and they've kicked ass every time. I have seen Megadeth twice and Dave Mustaine, although a very good guitar player, has no fucking stage presence whatsoever. He stood there and held the mic like a statue. About this "selling out" thing: Yes, Metallica has sold out.....EVERY TIME THEY PLAY LIVE SINCE THE MASTER OF PUPPETS TOUR!! When was the last time Megadeth sold out a show?? Maybe at a local bar! Yes, as you can tell, I'm a huge Metallica fan. I like the older stuff better, but I'm a fan of all Metallica's music on every album and some bootleg stuff(except that symphony crap) . That is like saying N'Sync is better than the Backstreet Boys because they sell more tickets. The truth of the matter is it doesn't matter. And Metallica has sold out big time. Load(which everyone thinks was a horibbly shitty album) is nothing compared to Re-Load. Metallica have become just a bunch of businessmen. | Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | or fuck them both and recognize that Slayer started approximately the same time as those bands in basically the same scene, never sold out or compromised their musical integrity, and yet somehow theyre still millionaires who sell out venues wherever they go and have a legion of fans a hell of alot more loyal than either band mentioned here. besides, they set the standard for how metal should sound, i cant think of a single half-assed or corny sounding release yet (shit, i liked Undisputed Attitude too).... | ||||

Ok and yes i know Mustaine sounds like a fag but thats the way is voice turned out. he cant help it. but ive always preferred listnin to Megadeth over Metallica. i havent even bought any of the new metallica albums in like 3 yearscuz my friends have always let me borrow them and they sucked. so i didnt waste my money . the one i bought like a month ago was the first Black Album, cuz in my view thats the best album theyve ever done. But Megadeth has always been tops in my book, only cuz my older brother listened to em a lot so thats why i like em. Why cant we all just get along?! We're all just monkeys!! I used to love Metallica. the Black album was the warning of what was to come along. Personally, I don't blame the boys, I blame the "Let's get you on MTV!" producer BOB ROCK. He ruined a good thing.
