| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | This is really a tough one. Both bands equal sleeze rock at it's finest. The one problem with Guns is they only have a few albums, which were great. But, I grew up on CRUE so.... | O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jan. 01 | Depends on what you mean by better. Crue was better in the beginning. But as far as hard rocking, GnR is better over all. But Crue had so many great songs. I think they started to suck when they stopped being a glam band though. But I didnt like GnR when the Use Your Illusion albums came out. | ||||

Motley Crue had a talented band & some very catchy tunes, and were led by a charismatic but vocally untalented lead singer. G & R had a gifted band & many catchy tunes, & also, many deeply personal & vital songs. Their charismatic & talented lead singer did things vocally that were never done before (at least not in hard rock, maybe Gospel), and will probably not be done again. The vocalist I could compare Axl Rose to, in terms of breaking modern ground vocally, would be Shannon Hoon (I MISS SHANNON). | Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | oh man, this shouldve never come up, GNR in every way imaginable. haha, i was just thinking about a funny story thats most likely NOT in the new crue book, probably around 1981 or so when they were getting started in L.A. and they had the glam rock look down pat, they literally got chased out of the Whiskey and down the street by two huge drunk punk rock motherfuckers who were none other than a young Glenn Danzig (MISFITS era) and an even younger Henry Rollins (BLACK FLAG era). not like i blame them much cuz id run too, but thats what you get for lookin like girls and poppin shit with the wrong people.... | ||||
