O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | hmmm, Southern Rock can be a pretty broad thing, but I'm a huge fan of Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allmans, Dixie Dregs, Charlie Daniels ...newer bands include Pride & Glory (one of Zakk Wylde's side projects), Halfway to Gone(local Long Branch band) and Raging Slab, they definitely have a good southern feel to them...and the chick from the Slab can play a wicked slide guitar I never considered CCR really Southern rock, and Kansas is more progressive rock, but anyway... O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Gotta go with aforementioned Allman's and Black Crowes. I also agree with Spit on the Dregs, as well as Steve Morse's solo projects. That guy can shred. Oh... and good pick on Pride and Glory. Even though Zakk is from Jersey, he's got the twang down when he sings, and IMO sounds exactly like Gregg Allman. (As a matter of fact, I think Zakk filled in when Dickey Betts was in jail on the Horde tour a few years back, so there is no question the Allman influence is there). Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | Atomic-COOL. I was starting to fear I was the only Blackfoot fan around here. I didn't mention the Allmans, only because I think that they long ago transcended any genre of music. They're not Rock'n'Roll, Southern Rock, Hard Rock, Jazz or Pop. They are a sound unto themselves. I love 'em dearly and always will. I can't believe I neglected to mention, before this, The Jeff Healy Band. Maybe cuz Jeff is from Canada. But that boy plays some Southern Rock like no one else. He's my favorite guitarist besides Zakk Wylde-another amazing player of Southern Rock and a NJ native besides. "And wow! Hey! What's this thing coming towards me very fast? Very very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding word like... ow... ound... round... ground! That's it! That's a good name - ground! I wonder if it will be friends with me?" Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | No lyrics have been posted yet, I thought this might be appropriate-a great song. Well I'm Southbound, Lord I'm comin' home to you. Well I'm Southbound, baby, Lord I'm comin' home to you. I got that old lonesome feelin' that's sometimes called the blues. Well I been workin' every night, travelin' every day. Yes I been workin' every night, traveling every day. You can tell your other man, sweet daddy's on his way. Aww, ya better believe. Well I'm Southbound. Whoa I'm Southbound. Well you can tell your other man, Sweet daddy's on his way. (Guitar solo) Got your hands full now baby, as soon as I hit that door. You'll have your hands full now woman, just as soon as I hit that door. Well I'm gonna make it on up to you for all the things you should have had before. Lord, I'm Southbound. Yes I'm Southbound. Whoa I'm Southbound, baby. Said I'm Southbound. Well I'm gonna make it on up to you for all the things you should have had before. I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it. The pains which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity towards it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further. It is so distinctly a matter of feeling with me, and is so strong and so deeply-rooted in my make and constitution, that I am sure I could not even see a vivisector vivisected with anything more than a sort of qualified satisfaction. I do not say I should not go and look on; I only mean that I should almost surely fail to get out of it the degree of contentment which it ought, of course, to be expected to furnish. - Mark Twain

Lynyrd Skynyrd Allman Brothers Bachman Turner Overdrive The Doobie Brothers Georgia Satellites .38 Special The Marshall Tucker Band Nitty Gritty Dirt Band George Thorogood & The Destroyers The Fabulous Thunderbirds The Band Molly Hatchet The Marshall Tucker Band The Charlie Daniels Band George Thorogood & The Destroyers Who Do You Love I walked forty-seven miles of barbed wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie A brand new house on the road side, and it's a-made out of rattlesnake hide Got a band new chimney put on top, and it's a-made out of human skull Come on take a little walk with me baby, and tell me who do you love? Who do you love? Who do you love? Around the town I use a rattlesnake whip, take it easy baby don't you give me no lip Who do you love? Who do you love? I've got a tombstone hand and a graveyard mind, I'm just twenty-two and I don't mind dying Who do you love? Who do you love? Who do you love? Now Arlene took a-me by my hand, she said "Lonesome George you don't understand, who do you love?" The night were dark and the sky were blue, down the alleyway a house wagon flew Hit a bump and somebody screamed, you should've heard what I'd seen Who do you love? Who do you love? Who do you love? Who do you love? Yeah, I've got a tombstone hand in a graveyard mine, just twenty-two baby I don't mind dying Snake skin shoes baby put them on your feet, got the goodtime music and the Bo Diddley beat Who do you love? O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jan. 01 | Might as well post some lyrics also The devil went down to Georgia He was lookin' for a soul to steal He was in a bind 'Cause he was way behind And he was willin' to make a deal When he came upon this young man Sawin' on a fiddle and playin' it hot And the devil jumped Up on a hickory stump And said boy let me tell you what Now you play a pretty good fiddle, boy But give the devil his due I'll bet a fiddle of gold Against your soul 'Cause I think I'm better than you The boy said my name's Johnny And it might be a sin But I'll take your bet And you're gonna regret 'Cause I'm the best there's ever been The devil opened up his case And he said I'll start this show And fire flew from his fingertips As he rosined up his bow Then he pulled the bow across the strings And it made a [sic] evil hiss And a band of demons joined in And it sounded something like this [Instrumental] When the devil finished Johnny said well you're pretty good old son Just sit right in that chair right there And let me show you how it's done He played Fire on the Mountain Run boys, run The devil's in the House of the Rising Sun Chicken in a bread pan picken' out dough Granny does your dog bite No child, no [Instrumental] The devil bowed his head Because he knew that he'd been beat And he laid that golden fiddle On the ground and Johnny's feet Johnny said, Devil just come on back If you ever wanna try again I done told you once you son of a bitch I'm the best there's ever been And he played Fire on the Mountain Run boys, run The devil's in the House of the Rising Sun Chicken in a bread pan picken' out dough Granny does your dog bite No child, no [Instrumental to end] AOL/AIM - oanda1027fm
