CD Ad Banned By Cable Companies

When you release an album with songs titled “Drug Dealing God”, “The Bible is Bullshit” and “Jesus Christ Homosexual” you are bound to spark controversy. Such is the case for Orange County’s political rap-core group Corporate Avenger. The groups latest album “Freedom is a State of Mind” hit store shelved last week but was already knee deep in controversy.

According to Koch Records, the groups label, the band has been receiving “threats and angry correspondence," according to a press release, "it now seems the liberal media won’t even stand behind the artists.”

Koch Records revealed last week that “ MTV, Comedy Central and E! have all refused to air the Corporate Avenger TV spot in top markets such as Chicago and Phoenix due to the words ‘THE BIBLE IS BULLSHIT’ in succession. The majority of stations will only run the Corporate Avenger spot after 10PM.”

Below are additional excerpts from the Koch Records statement:

“Corporate Avenger have backed up their lyrics and songs’ focus from the beginning. In a recent interview, band member The Wind stated, ‘when Christian people see things like “the bible is bullshit”, they immediately think it represents an absence of values... actually it’s the opposite of what it means to us. We believe that the bible should be held to the same standards as other works of art and literature. Many of the groups who protest the performance and sale of music and film due to content, read and sell the bible to children when it contains the very same content.’”

Corporate Avenger see their album Freedom Is A State Of Mind as a direct response to a recent ‘Newsweek’ cover-story that took an in-depth look into Christian music and the tens of millions of young people that support it. The meaning behind Corporate Avenger’s music is actually the antithesis of negativity towards religion, ethics and morals. “

other songs include Fault the Police, Taxes Are Stealing, Bible Is Bullshit, Jesus Christ Homosexual, Drug Dealing God

Now are these guys just a giant publicity stunt or are they actually trying to say something?

i think is pretty obvious this band is looking for attention and this whole thing is a publicity stunt, however i don't think it was a good enogh reason to ban it. i would have just ignored crap like this.

i agree with all that i have been saying that for ages. The bible is bullshit, jesus was a fag, i don't agree with drug dealing god i dunno what that's about. Until you hear their music you can't judge them but looks like we aren't gonna hear it. Religion is almost like a drug cartel i can see that like bono said "preacher ask me for money, the god i know is not in need of cash."

If I could capture the rage of today's youth and bottle it
Crush the glass from my bare hands and swallow it
Then spit it back in the faces of you racists
and hypocrites who think the same shit but don't say shit
You Liberace's, Versace's, and you nazis
Watch me, cause you thinkin you got me in this hot seat
You motherfuckers wanna JUDGE me cause you're NOT me

I think it's good...at least a new band in music stands for something, not just shit like "Quit Playing Games with My Dildo-loving Ass" or other useless music like pretenda-a-punk (aren't they supposed to be rebelling against something?)

But like you said GS, since MTV controls what music people listen to, no one's gonna hear it, radio certainly won't play it (well, maybe o&a) I just can't believe that just because they're attacking religion, they should be banned!!!!
I like the album title: Freedom Is a State of Mind

Anti-music is also running a contest for them:
quote:

Because the band's music addresses several socio/political issues this time around we thought we would give you the opportunity to speak your mind and have a chance to win at the same time.

Corporate Avenger feels that in life, every moment is a gift. Tell Corporate Avenger how you use your gift and you could win a 4 song sampler.
