O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | The Big East Tournament? I'm a Syracuse alum and always root for them, but they can never win the big games. I'd have to say Notre Dame is the biggest threat to win right now. E-Mail Me "What we've got here is failure to communicate. O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | BF...nobody is going to take it easily this year...this has been the first year in a while with no clear cut front runner. Its odd that the top teams aren't SU, G'Town or UCONN. Pretty f'in scary E-Mail Me "What we've got here is failure to communicate. O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Im a big Syracuse fan and very dissapointed that they didnt get a bye because Notre Dame choked at home on Sunday against Georgetown. Syracuse doesnt have a good chance of winning their First Big East Tournament since 1992 because Boheim only plays a 7 man Rotation. And now they have to play 4 days in a row and win 4 games in a row with a 7 man rotation. That will be very difficult. However in the beginning of the season, they won the Great Alaska Shootout in 3 consecutive days against Depaul, Ohio State, and Missouri. My pick to win the Tournament is Providence. I think Syracuse will beat UCONN but wont get past Providence's defense tomorrow. Also watch out for Seton Hall. I definetly expect them to beat St. John's and then give GeorgeTown a serious run. O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | Francine, you're 100% right. But keep in mind that they won the Shootout at the beginning of the year, when no team was really sharp. I believe they did it a few years ago also. The problem with Boeheim is that it seems once he gets his 20 wins...he doesn't care because he knows the NCAA bid is automatic. They'll get beat in the first round by Richmond...again, but he'll get his bonus for the 20 wins and the Bid. He typically plays a 7 or 8 man rotation, and has for years...the main difference this year is that he has NO center and NO rebounding, 2 key things he's always had in prior years. I'm sticking with Notre Dame E-Mail Me "What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach...So, you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | i'm gonna go out on a limb and say that SETON HALL is going to win. they had a terrible regular season but i think they're going to make a run. right now they're looking good against St. John's, and like Francine said, i think they could take out Georgetown. O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Syracuse though has faired well in the Tournament the past few years with the exception of 99 when they lost to Oklahoma State in the First Round. You look back they lost in the Sweet 16 last year to the National Champion Michigan State, and remember they played in Michigan and had a 14 Point lead in the Second Half before Michigan State was unconcious for the last 15 minutes. In 98 they lost to Duke in the Sweet 16, and of course they got to the National Championship Game in 96. So Boheim has done a good job in the Post Season with the team. This years Team scares me because as you said they have no big man presence on this team and consistently give up Offensive Rebounds. I will be just happy with a Sweet 16 appearance again this year. The 2nd Round game will probably be tough. We are looking at anywhere from a 5 seed to a 3 seed if we win the Big East Tournament.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | quote: Francine, again right on the money, but what was the key, again....a dominant center. If he could have Etan Thomas back again this year...we would be a lock for at least the Elite 8. But Celuck is just 5 fouls, and McNeil, who could become another Otis Hill is making freshman mistakes and Boeheim is afraid of that...hence the 3 minutes a game. The only reason we'll be a 3 - 5 seed is the fact that we are ranked #14 in the country and have 22 wins. Right now, I'd be very afraid of another first round loss. If either Shumpert or Brown have a shitty game....we're done! All that said...they certainly have their hands full with Prov tonight. And you SJU fans....ha ha! O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Theres no doubt the way Syracuse plays if they play bad they can lose to anybody! it doesnt matter who. If they play good like they did last night, they can beat just about anybody. They rely so much on shooting, if Shumpert has an off night, or Damone Brown or Allen Griffin arent hot, they will get rocked. I do however think they should get to the Sweet 16. And if they play well again tonight against Providence, they have a shot. And how bad must the bench guys on Syracuse be, if Boeheim only plays 7 guys and Billy Celuck is one of them. Billy Celuck has absolutely no Skill what so ever. All he is 7 feet and you hope he can be a presence down low. The guy couldnt put the ball in the ocean and just looks like a stiff. And Jeremy McNeil provides nothing offensively as well. Those bench guys must be REALLY bad to not play.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Seton Hall looked pretty good against Georgetown today. this was the best I've seen them play all year. they actually played as a team. instead of forcing up a tough shot as they usually would, they found the open man for an easier shot. it will be tough to beat BC, but i think they will keep it close, and who knows, maybe they'll win. their regular season was a real disappointment, but they are coming together at the right time with three strong games against UConn, St. John's, and now Georgetown.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | I knew Seton Hall would be dangerous in this Tournament. Theres alot of talent on this team and they underachieved dramatically. Sometimes when teams that underachieve all season get into the post season, they thrive. Like the Penguins in 92 who underachieved after winning the Cup the previous season, they turned it up and won the Cup after a bad Regualar Season. The Houston Rockets did the same thing in 95. The Knicks went to the Finals in 99. 2 wins for Seton Hall is nice, but they are only half way there as if they do not win the Big East Tournament, they will not even be considered for an at large bid.
