| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 01  | BLUESHIRTS ADD GRIT IN BARNABY Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired right wing Matthew Barnaby from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for left wing Zdeno Ciger. Barnaby, 28, has appeared in 29 games with Tampa Bay this season, collecting a team-leading 70 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 195-pounder has appeared in 504 career NHL contests with Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay, registering 66 goals and 101 assists for 167 points, along with 1,814 penalty minutes courtesy of newyorkrangers.com Hey he's not breathing. | Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | Ugh, Barnaby's such a cunt. If "toughness" means wagging your tongue at someone and then turtling the next second then it's toughness the Rangers got. I think Glen Sather saved like 350,000 in salary on the deal. That might be good, but Ciger wasn't that bad. I think he'll do a little more damage in Tampa Bay. Barnaby's one of those guys that I wouldn't want on my team. (There are some players, of course, who you hate but would love on your team - I've just seen Barnaby be too much of a pussy in general to have any respect for that gutless fuck). | Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01 | I hope this is a prelude to another deal. Right now, the Rangers are a bad defensive team that takes too many undisciplined penalties, and pays for it with bad penalty killing. I don't see Barnaby as addressing any of those weaknesses. | ||||
