O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Are the Yankees and Mets, the only ones participating in the winter meetings? The Yankees get Giambi ,Rondell White and Ventura, the Mets get Alomar ,Cedeno and Justice. quote:

O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | I love it. The Mets might not be spending big money, but they're making important moves. Cedeno is going to fit right back in here. Youth, speed, good defense, a little pop, and a switch hitter... now our outfield looks a lot more stable. I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | WOOHOO~! My whole wish list after they got Alomar only has two more cogs to go. If they sign Juan Gonzalez and trade Justice to free up the money for him, I will be the happiest camper ever. Imaging this lineup: CF Cedeno 3B Alfonzo 2B Alomar C Piazza RF Gonzaleez 1B Zeile LF Shinjo or whoever (McEwing, Payton, etc.) SS Ordonez If you don't make any more moves and put Justice in Gonzalez' spot, it's a good lineup, but Gonzalez would make it GREAT! Now, I know that the bottom of that lineup ain't scaring anybody, but the top would be ultra-sweet and I think that a guy like Zeile would get ALOT more opportunities and might actually have a good year with this lineup ahead of him. And like they say, Ordonez all of a sudden doesn't suck as much when he's not needed to drive in runs. Cedeno in front of the big boppers, getting on base, will be cool as hell and this is a real smart move again my Phillips. As for the Mets and Yanks being the only guys involved, well, isn't it like that EVERY year? HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO! This message was edited by Hello! Hello! Diamond Dust! O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | I would be beyond shocked if they went out and got Gonzalez. I would look for them to make maybe one more small signing and one more trade since they have 6 starting pitchers. I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | 4 years, $18 Mil total. Cedeno turned down more money from Mariners. Cedeno ecstatic to be coming back to NY Mets & Valentine. He had by far best season here, and as I have "reported" before, Rickey Henderson feels he will have break out season this year. Lets see if Ricky is as good a scout as he was stealing bases. Mets have DEFINITELY upgraded their team speed. Last year they didn't get on base much, but when they did, it was generally station to station. As much as I liked Ventura, he was slow as crap. Justice, Alomar, and Cedeno all run very well.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | I am extremely happy that the Mets got Cedeno back. He will be a big part to the team's success next year. The MEts lineup is pretty much set now, so its time to focus on the bullpen. David Weathers would be a nice addition to the pen, so hopefully they will get him. Now that Benitez sees all the moves being made, maybe he will wise up and start pitching better baseball in crunch time. Go Knicks, Giants, Rangers, and Rutgers Men's Basketball (now 6-2)

O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01 | Awsome and great strategic moves by Cashmen and Phillips this winter so far. Lets see if it pays off. I know it will for the Yanks but the Mets definitely look like a better team. I think theyll give Atlanta a huge wake up call this year by compeiting for 1st. I cant wait for the season to start eventhough its months away.

Hanger-On Registered: Oct. 01 | First off I have to say it is great to have Cedeno back on the team. I was pissed when they traded him, but it turned out that having Mike Hampton for 1 year actually helped us get to the World Series. I wish we never had to trade him. I am more excited about Cedeno than I am about Alomar. It's the fact that I wanted it to happen so badly. We signed a pretty decent reliever in Weathers too. If Phillips is thinking of something to shock Mets fans even more, he should offer a contract to David Wells, because no one else is. I think if it's lucrative enough Wells will take it. All that aside. I can understand that I am a Met fan and me saying what I'm about to say is irrelevant but, I think Steve Phillips has done a better job than Brian Cashman this week. Phillips has his back against the wall, with not much money to spend and he still brought in three big time players. Cashman did a good job, don't get me wrong, but he did it with a ton of money. It's not to hard to get a player signed when you have a billion dollars. My point: Steve more gooder! :) I also think Steve may not be finished in his crusade to dump salary and add talent. If he can find a suitor for Justice, there is always a chance for another signing, or maybe picking someone like Burnitz up for Justice. Who knows? The last time I said I wasn't going to try to read Steve Phillips mind he went out and did this, so I won't start now. Norton: Patty has the sex appeal of Brundlefly. I <3 the Froy

O&A Board Regular Registered: May. 00 | It's good that we now have bats and defense in the outfield. Now Steve must concentrate on getting better pitching either via more trades (Justice?) or signings. - AIM:roweLENTless2001

O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | Their pitching isn't bad. They have an extra starter that they can offload, and signing Weathers was a great move. I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... That someday it may raise me... above these badlands
