O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | There are many candidates this year for MVP in what should be a very tight race. -Got the stats from sports illustrated.com. My thoughts on each underneath. If they missed one, give the player and a reason why. QB Tom Brady, New England (10-5): Ranks second in the AFC with a 64.3 completion percentage, and second in conference with an 88.3 passer rating. -Where would this team be without him. He stepped in and changed the entire season around for the Patriots. RB Marshall Faulk, St. Louis (12-2): Leads the league with 16 touchdowns, and ranks fifth in the NFC with 1,096 rushing yards. -This guy does everything. He is the prototype for an NFL player and a sure 1st year Hall of Famer. He is just incredible year after year. QB Brett Favre, Green Bay (10-4): Tied for first in the NFL with 30 TD passes, second in NFC with 94.1 passer rating and third in the conference with 3,439 passing yards. -This guy somehow puts up huge numbers every single year. I think he is undefeated when the temperature is 34 or below. Just an awesome Quarterback. QB Rich Gannon, Oakland (10-4): Leads the AFC with a 97.4 passer rating, ties for the AFC lead with 24 TD passes, and ranks third in the conference with 3,291 passing yards. -Has had a great year and has put up lots of touchdowns this year with Tim Borwn and Jerry Rice. Very deserving, but may have lost a lot of votes last week as Oakland played like crap. QB Jeff Garcia, San Francisco (11-3): Ranks second in the NFL with 26 TD passes, and is third in the NFC with a 91.1 passer rating. -Thank god for Terrell Owens. Awesome year for Garcia. RB Curtis Martin, N.Y. Jets (9-5): Ranks second in the NFL with 1,340 rushing yards, and ties for second in the league with 10 rushing TDs. -Let's face it people, the Jets offense before last week sucked. Testerverde has not thrown the ball downfield so almost the entire offense relies around Curtis martin. The Jets are basically in the playoffs now and will will be the 2nd best team in the AFC with a bye week if they beat Buffalo and Oakland. WR Terrell Owens, San Francisco (11-3): Leads the NFL with 14 receiving TDs, ranks third in the NFC with 86 catches and fifth in the conference with 1,203 receiving yards. -Just an awesome year. Damn you Cluster for not trading me him this year in fantasy Football. QB Kordell Stewart, Pittsburgh (12-2): Has the fewest interceptions (5) of any starting QB, and is fourth in the AFC with an 86.8 passer rating. Has also has rushed for 499 yards and five TDs. -What a story Kordell is this year? Has done a great job on the best team in football this year. Great turnaround. Defintely deserves comeback player of the year. LB Brian Urlacher, Chicago (11-3): Has 84 tackles, 23 assists, 5.0 sacks, four passes defensed, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one TD. -Just an awesome year for the leader of a great defense. Will have many more good years to come. QB Kurt Warner, St. Louis (12-2): Tied for first in the NFL with 30 TD passes, and 4,191 passing yards. Leads the NFC with a 99.2 passer rating, and tops the NFL with a 67.3 completion percentage. -This guy is the perfect guy for the perfect team. he has as many weapons as a Pro Bowl team. My pick though goes to Curtis martin for MVP because without him the Jets are a below .500 team and Jets fans are not talking playoffs, they are saying Just End The Season.

Psychopath Registered: Apr. 01 | I think Rich Gannon. The guy has been solid all year long. Nothing ever slowed him down. I think he might bring the Raiders to the Super Bowl. Psychopath Registered: Sep. 01 | I've got to root for Curtis Martin, he's tops in so many categories and as TW said, without him, we're a Kotite team. Curtis isn't as flashy or as a big play man as some others on the list; He hasn't had an 80 yard play that people talk about the next day, he isn't a hugely scary passing threat like Faulk is, but he is consistent and is a big part of the Jets offense. And the Jets are the only team on that list that hasn't clinched a playoff berth. Perhaps in another week though and then we will really have to start the Curtis for MVP campaign. O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Tom Brady...I thought the Pats would be 3-13 this year. You tell me that I'm better, You just hate yourself You tell me that you like her, You just wish you did You tell me that I make no difference, Well at least I'm fucking trying What the fuck have you done?

O&A Board Veteran Registered: May. 00 | Tom Brady without a doubt. The Pats were supposed to be a sub .500 WITH Bledsoe this year. Without him, forget about it. Brady has stepped up and become this year's version of Kurt Warner.(A quarterback that came out of nowhere to become a superstar...ok superstar is stretching it but he is having an awesome year) If you are going to give it to the Most Valuable Player it goes to Brady. As for the Martin question...you know the Jets were a damn good team until Aaron Glenn went out with his injury. Makes you wonder huh? I don't have a heart of gold and I don't grow one later, OK? But relax. There's other people a lot nicer coming up -- we call them losers.

Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | If the MVP hadn't just really become a numbers award, it would go to Brady, but his numbers have been real bad the last four games (luckily the won all four of them thanks to Antawain Smith and the defense). He's got on TD and like 5 Ints in the last four games, which isn't something you get from an MVP QB down the stretch. I'd give it to Curtis Martin. The guy has been solid as hell since he was drafted by the Pats, and just keeps churning out the same numbers. The Jets would be in horrible shape if it weren't for Curtis. Of course, it will probably go to Faulk again this year despite the fact that 1/3 of his numbers this year came in two games against the Panthers.
