OK, I'm going to try to stay calm as I type this, but it's not going to be easy...I have just read a story on CNN.com (no, it's not AP, but usually just as reliable) and I came across something that disturbed me greatly...

quote:

Thanks to unprecedented security measures, ticket holders...will have to do without some game-day staples, including containers of any type, camera and binocular cases, noise-makers, even those beloved foam fingers and hands.

Disallowing people from having cameras and noise-makers is understandable, but to deny football fans the right to possess foam fingers and hands crosses the line. This is an infringement upon our basic rights! What happened to freedom of speech??? Nothing says "We're #1!!!" like a foam finger, NOTHING!!! I, for one, will be writing my congressmen, representatives and also the ACLU...Just think of the poor fellow whose family will go hungry this weekend because Daddy wasn't allowed to sell foam fingers...I think a protest should be organized...

The second you go through those turnstiles, you're on private property, you check your rights at the door.

I'd give up all those things to go to a Super Bowl some day.

Most of those security measures seem as unnecessary as strong cockpit doors and airport security did before 9-11. But since then the philosophy is 'better safe than sorry.'

No doubt they'll be selling some or all of these items in the stadium. At a "slightly" marked up price that is. WHORES!!!

not to be too paranoid, but what if someone snuck a gun inside one of those stupid fingers.....

It IS private property - they set the rules. some teams/sports are more understanding than others.

Giant Stadium won't even let you bring in a plastic 16 oz water bottle; At Shea they used to let you bring in most anything if, as long as it wasn't a glass bottle. After 9/11 shea security had to check everything, but they were still pretty good/understanding on most items.
It's their house, their rules. deal with it.
