O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | This thread is for pre, during, and post game analysis and discussion of the Super Bowl. It is NOT a predictions thread, so you can stop your hissy fit now Cluster :) SUPERBOWL XXXVI St. Louis Rams (16-2) at New England Patriots (13-5) The Super Bowl is upon us and it is a matchup between a team that just about everybody expected to be there in the Rams, and a team that just about nobody expected to be there, the Patriots. Its been a cinderella run for the Patriots all year, it seems like everything has fallen in their favor ever since Drew Bledsoe went down in Week 2 against the Jets. Meanwhile the Rams have pretty much coasted their way through this NFL Campaign into their rightful place in the Super Bowl. And if it wasnt for some injuries to Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk last year, we might be looking at a dynasty in the Rams. Now as far as this game is concerned, I feel this one will be similar to many Super Bowls of years past, in that it will be a blowout. Sure the Patriots have had a hell of a run, but lets look at this closely. They got the break of a lifetime against the Raiders, because a silly rule change allowed them the chance to upend Oakland, that game for all intensive purposes was over. Last week, you have to give them credit for going in to Pittsburgh and beating the Steelers, but once again look at it closely. The Steelers played probably their worst game since Week 1 when they got crushed by Jacksonville. Kordell Stewart was awful, The Patriots scored 2 Special teams Touchdowns, yet with all that, still only won the game by 7 points with the Steelers driving late in the game. Everybody knows how great the Rams offense has been, but this year their defense has been stellar and Aeneas Williams seems to be an interception machine. For the Patriots to win this game they need to play a perfect game. They can not turn the ball over, and give the Rams defense points. Ask Brett Favre and Green Bay about that. I dont argue the fact that Bill Bellichick decided to let Tom Brady start over Drew Bledsoe, but now Brady is going to be looking over his shoulder. He is now playing in front of the whole world and has some pressure on him. Throw in the fact that his ankle still is probably not 100%. I think he might be a little shaky early and thats something the Patriots can not afford. Earlier in the year these two teams played on a Sunday Night in a game where the conditions favored the Patriots. Outside on the grass in cold weather, yet the Rams went in their and won. This time the game is in the Rams environment, in the Dome on the Turf which makes it that much more difficult for the Patriots to pull this one off. I really cant see the Patriots winning this game at all. Maybe they can keep this game close, but I really cant see that one either. Im taking the Rams to cruise to the Super Bowl XXXVI victory. SCORE: Rams 41 Patriots 17

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | quote: quote: Look like a predictions thread to me FB :). Anyway, i truly believe that the Patriots can win this thing. They have been playing defense with mirrors all year, confusing opponents with their different schemes. Belichek can get the most out of his guys. His defense isnt the best, in fact, statistic wise, the Pats are average at best. However, i feel that the Pats have everything going for them right now. They can just play loose and play the way they know how to play. Most of the pressure is on the Rams to prove to everyone that they are the best team by a LOT. Special teams will be HUGE in this game. The Rams are turnover prone on punt returns, and we all saw what Troy Brown can do. In conclusion, i see a low scoring game, with more emphasis on defense than offense. I think it will be a very sloppy game, and that favors the Pats. So, Patriots 27, Rams 17...and Troy Brown as MVP. I just hope that it is entertaining to wqtch. I really wish they could stop playing in New Orleans, I just am not a big fan of that place. Go Knicks, Giants, Rangers, and Rutgers Men's Basketball Long Live Psycho Bitch

Psychopath Registered: Sep. 01 | I for one am on the Rams bandwagon and think the game will be over by midway through the second quarter. The commercials will be of higher import in the second half than the events taking place on the field. I really hope I'm wrong on this so we can have an entertaining Super Bowl, but I just don't see it. Honor our heroes. Honor their wishes. GodBlessAmerica.

I will be the first to tell you, I never expected the game to go the way it is, but I love it. When I have no real rooting interest, I will usually pull for the dog. Will it last? Who knows, but as of right now, the football world is in shock. How many bookies are cleaning their guns right now? Eat shit and die :) AIM

A show that in my opinion was the Super Bowl's best ever. The names banner was (i'm not sure what word to use)classy.

This game much more gooder-er than I thought it would be. Will there be OT for the first time ever? edit1 -- Nevermind, what a Boston Shocker!!!! GodBlessAmerica. O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | The rams should have had 2 seconds left on the clock after the field goal by vinatieri, the time was clear on the replay. I'm not saying it would've mattered but you never know. they already had the pyro going and the confetti flying so there's no way they would've gave the rams the kickoff.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Actually, it is pretty common in the NFL for 3 or 4 seconds to run off after a kick like that. It is up to the coach of the opposing team to make a stink, and he didn't. Either way, vegas is reeling right about now. Eat shit and die :) AIM

Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | I am drunk. I have no voice. Fires are being set on the streets. Major streets are in gridlock becuase of drunken fans jumping in front of cars and preventing anyone from moving. Cops in riot gear and others on horseback are clearing everyone out. They made me go home. Can someone PLEASE finally give credit to the Pats? They are a great team filled with marginal players. They've done this shit all year. They've won 9 in a row and 11 of their last 12. That's not luck. Yet every week the "experts" like Ms. Banger here, predict the Pats to get blown out. Then every time the Pats defense controls the game the excuse is that the other team just blew it. That the Pats were lucky, that someone was hurt or sick, or distracted, or the sun was in their eyes, blah blah blah. The Pats offense did nothing and still were in complete control of the game right up until the last minutes becuase altough Warner had plenty of time to through, no one was ever open. If the Pats and Rams played next week, it would be yet another low-scoring close game.
