Psychopath Registered: Apr. 01 | So i been trying to figure out if Cablevision is going to carry this channel or not. From what i have found out, Cablevision is trying to make the YES channel a Premium channel and charge customers $10 a MONTH for it. I guess that George is fighting this, because Cablevision is the only Cable provider in the area that is not signed up to carry the channel. Every other services has it as part of there basic channel package or with a $2 a month charge. ' Now i can see where Cablevision would be pissed, since MSG is a lame duck network in the summer now. That's a ton of money that it will be losing. If you are a Yankee fan in Cablevision's coverage area, are you willing to pay $10 extra a month to get the YES channel? Or will you make a switch to Direct TV or the like? And if your not in Cablevision's area or, for that matter, if your a Mets, Phillies, or Soxes fan are you willing to go out and pay that much for 15 or so games a month that will be on these types of channels?

Trust me, Cablevision does NOT want to lose the business of every Yankee fan in its customer base, so they will end up carrying it as a basic channel like Steinbrenner wants. That might raise rates a little, but it won't be a $10/month premium channel. I used to post on OpieAnthony.com but I lost my bookmark and now I can't find the site.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Never under estimate Cablevision when it comes to sucking extra fees out of its customers. On a related note, Cablevision has announced it would move 50 Mets games to MSG, meaning that Mets fans must subscribe to both MSG and FoxSportsNY. Of course, everyone who subscribes to MSG, which will no longer carry Yankees, and Fox Sports NY, which will stop soon carrying Nets & Devils games will still pay full price for less games.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I for one will NOT pay $10 a month to Cablevision when the YES network is not a premium channel on other cable carriers. I spend way too much money a year at Yankees Stadium to spend an additional $10 a month. Sometimes I feel this is too scary to be true...I sabotage myself for fear of losing you USA
