Since Francine was so dead-on last year by picking the DBacks over the Yankees (as I'm sure he'll remind us anyway), I figured it was about time to start the predictions for this year.

AL E: Red Sox
AL C: White Sox
AL W: A's
Wildcard: Yankees

Yup, that's right, accross the board the Mariners take a nosedive. The West will be the toughest division, with the Rangers and Angels both improving greatly. The East is a cakewalk so both the Sox and Yankees have close to 100 wins.

NL E: Mets
NL C: Cardinals
NL W: Giants
Wildcard: Cubs

Cubs/Astros are close, but I think that the Astros pitchers are going to slip a bit, while Alou helps the Cubs offense greatly.

Division Champsionships
Cardinals over Cubs
and
A's over Red Sox

Cardinals win World Series

AL MVP: Manny Ramirez
AL Cy: Mike Mussina
AL Roy: Carlos Pena
Comeback: Tim Salmon (I don't think Nomar and Frank Thomas should qualify since they were just hurt all year. Salmon played, he just sucked ass)
Bust: CC Sabathia

NL MVP: Sosa
NL Cy: Kerry Wood
NL Roy: Burroughs (just because Beckett will get hurt)
Comeback: Jason Kendall
Bust: Wade Miller

Is this the Official unofficial prediction thread?

Does that mean there will be an Official official prediction thread, or an unofficial unoffical thread, or.......... ::bangs head::

Sorry about that.

Like your picks; If Mets beat Braves and Braves are out of playoffs I'll be a happy camper (if Yankees are also toppled by Sox there'll be fireworks).

I haven't put as much thought as you, but here's a start:

NL East - Mets.
NL Central - Cards
NL West - Dodgers (upset special)
NL wildcard - Braves.

Cards over Braves, Mets over Dodgers.
Cards over Mets in 7 (sad thought though).

AL East - Yankees
AL Central - ChiSox
AL West - A's
AL Wildcard - BoSox, 2 games better than Mariners.

A's over BoSox, Yankees over ChiSox
A's over Yankees in 6

Cards take A's in 5

I'll post award predictions later.

BAH!

The Red Sox will NOT go to the World Series. The Red Sox will NOT win the AL East. Pedro's arm will fall off his body in June, and he will make no more than 15-20 starts for the season.

There are my predictions.

Oh and one more thing... your mom's box.

Rookie, those putrid cigars you got must be rotting your brain.

With Nomar, Manny, Pedro, Everett, and Varitek each either out completely or seriously hobbled for the vast majority of the year, the Sox only finished about 10 games behind the Yankees despite the fact that Yankees didn't have one single major injury the whole year.

Pedro will probably get hurt again this year just as he has for each of the last four, but hopefully it will only be a few weeks. If he's gone for a significant amount of time, the Sox will STILL make the playoffs but will have no chance in the first round. However, Derek Lowe will emerge as a solid #2 starter, and Casey Fossum will also have a good year. Burkett will be a complete bust, and Dustin Hermanson will be mediocre just like Frank Castillo. Juan Pena and Fossum, two you guys out of the Duquette-murdered farm system will end up having real good years for unkowns.

And if you really think that I was going to come out on this thread and brag or remind people about how I predicted the Diamondbacks to beat the Yankees in 7 games last year on April 1, well then all I have to say is...... Your right.

Your points are valid, my friend. But don't forget the Yankees have made some upgrades to their offense (their main problem last year was lack of run production) and should be good to win quite a few more games this year than last.

Wow! That's challening. Wait until Sports Illustrated, Peter Gammons, and Baseball Weekly have already made their predictions about the World Series, and various individual awards. Show some balls woman.

........................................

And for Rookie since I don't want to add more posts and get away from the point of this thread....

"some upgrades" Yanks replaced O'Neill, Knobloch, and Tino with Giambi, White (who is ALWAYS HURT), and ????. While Giambi is a big upgrade, the loss of those three guys is pretty significant. Brosius to Ventura is a much bigger upgrade than Tino to Giambi

The Karsay addition is an extremely big one, but Clemens should fall back to earth in a big way, and you also never know about injuries. The Yanks have been rediculously lucky in that regard over the last 5+ years. It could always happen. The Sox are significantly better across the board this year, while the Yankees have added some people but they've also had major losses. Note: I am still saying they're not going to make the World Series (though how fucking sweet would a Mets-Sox series be?)

WITE, Don't get me wrong, the Sox do have a good team and should be competitive throughout the season, but they always seem to lose steam in August/September. And I wonder if the front office/managerial changes will have an effect on the team as well.

As for the Yankee upgrades...

Tino to Giambi = BIG upgrade. Giambi's OBP, SLG, and home run potential is MUCH higher than Tino's, especially with the short porch in right field. Remember that Giambi's been playing in pitcher-friendly Network Associates Coliseum his whole career.

Brosius to Ventura = significant upgrade. Similar batting averages, but Ventura has more HR and RBI potential, again with the short porch.

Knoblauch to White = another BIG upgrade IMO. Knobby had nothing left to contribute the last couple of years and it showed. He should have never been put in the outfield. Even if White misses 1/2 the season, he will be twice as productive as Chuck was.

Gaping hole in the bullpen to Karsay = HUGE upgrade. no further explanation necessary.

I also expect Wells to have a bounce-back year. He's been pitching well in spring training with no pain.

Anyway, none of this means anything until the season starts and we see how the teams stand up. It's gonna be fun though...

How come no one mentions Nick Johnson when they talk about the Yankee improvements? He should add just as much as Soriano did last year, if not more. More power in the Yankees lineup = more gooder. Plus, Vander Wal and Spencer in a platoon in right, doesn't sound too bad to me. Vander Wal has potential to put up good numbers as does Spencer. Also, no injuries? Jeter was nicked up the whole year, Justice was injured and sucked the whole year, Bernie's dad was sick and then died, El Duque was injured, .....

Anyway,
AL East: Yankees (by at least 10 games)
AL Central: Twins
AL West: Oakland
AL Wild Card: Boston (too many games against the Devil Rays and Orioles)

NL East: Mets
NL Central: Cubs
NL West: Dodgers
NL Wild Card: Astros

AL MVP: Jason Giambi
AL Cy Young: Mike Mussina
AL ROY: Nick Johnson

NL MVP: Mike Piazza
NL Cy Young: Kerry Wood
NL ROY: Josh Beckett

Oh yeah, most of the time the comeback player awards go to guys who were injured the previous year so a lot of guys are up for it, but I'm sticking with Darin Erstad in the AL.

No chance unless Giambi is injured (or Johnson traded). He won't get regular time at 1B, and won't be the every day DH. He may be an improvement, and he may become a very good player, but this year he won't do enough for ROY.

AL ROY - Carlos Pena.
NL ROY - Kaz Ishii (who of course shouldn't qualify but will)

Here go my stupid ass predictions:

AL East: Yankees (easily)
AL Cent: White Sox
AL West: A's
AL WC: Angels

ALCS: Yankees over Sox in 4

NL East: Braves (not so easily)
NL Cent: Cards
NL West: Dodgers
NL WC: Astros (The Mets will be a close 2nd, hurt by playing in the East against the Marlins, Braves and Phillies)

NLCS Cards over Braves in 6

World Series: NY Yankees over St. Louis in 6 games, taking care of 50% of the teams that they lost to in the WS without defeating.

AL MVP: Giambi
AL CY: Freddy Garcia
AL ROY: Johnson

NL MVP: J.D. Drew
NL CY: Josh Beckett
NL ROY: Josh Beckett

As for Yankee upgrades here goes: Giambi is the best hitter in baseball and Tino is a middle-of-the-pack first baseman. Soriano is going to do a helluva lot better considering last year he learned (A)the major league strike zone, (B)how to deal with ML pitching and (C)a new position he never played ever. Jeter won't start the season hurting and won't have to carry the media burden for the team and Ventura will have a better season than Brosius did, especially in the field.

As for their OF, screw Rondell White. Juan Rivera is gonna be playing LF soon enough and for many years to come. And both are a significant upgrade over Knoblauch, a leadoff hitter with a .250 average. Bernie had an off year and will benefit from Giambi hitting in front of him. Vander Wal/Spencer will do as well or better than O'Neill did last year. I love the guy, but it was clear that last year was gonna be his last. Nick Johnson will see some games in the OF as well, and everyone expects a lot from him.

Their starting pitching is nothing to worry about. Clemens is good for 14-16 wins and will always keep the game close. Mussina will vie for the Cy Young, Pettitte is the most underrated pitcher in baseball when he's not tipping his pitches, and Wells' back is better. I look forward to seeing him try to outdo Clemens. Hernandez is healthy and ready to tear shit up as seen in his spring training starts. Hitchcock will be a very expensive long reliever, ready to step into the rotation at a moment's notice.

Their bullpen has improved dramatically with the addition of Karsay, a closer on any other team. Mendoza won't be looking to crack the starting rotation this season, so his mind will be on performing out of the bullpen. Rivera will be his old self.

They will win, and win big. That is all.

Beliefs are dangerous. Beliefs allow the mind to stop functioning.
A non-functining mind is Clinically dead. Believe in nothing...

One week till opening day!

AL East
New York
Boston
Toronto
Tampa Bay
Baltimore
*yawn* same as every year.. Toronto could be a sleeper though if Boston gets banged up again. Baltimore will lose 100 games.

AL Central
Chicago
Minnesota
Cleveland
Detroit
Kansas City

should be a competitive division with the top 3 all close most of the season. Chicago's young pitching staff could slip them to 2nd or 3rd, but that offense with a healthy Thomas, plus Ordonez, Konerko, Lee, Durham and finally a leadoff hitter in Lofton, will carry them. Minnesota could have a breakout year, have by far the best staff in the division and if Reed can put together 12-14 wins, they could sneak up and take the division. Cleveland is headed in the right direction but this isn't their year. Outfield reminds me of last year's Mets. Detroit will hover around .500 until August and then collapse. KC will trade Sweeney and Beltran.

AL West
Oakland
Seattle
Anaheim
Texas

deepest division by far. Oakland's pitching is just too good and they have plenty of offense to compensate losing Giambi - Chavez will have a 35-100 season, Long is very underrated, Hernandez will have a big year, and Tejada will be an all-star. Carlos Pena a bit overrated but will put up decent rookie numbers. Justice will have a good bounce back year and make it 11 straight division titles. Bullpen is a little iffy but will get the job done. Boone, Abbott, Moyer, Rhodes, and thus Seattle, will come back down to Earth but still be the wild card. In any other division Anaheim would win the wild card. Great staff with the additions of Appier and Sele, along with Washburn and Ortiz. Have a legit shot to overtake Seattle if Erstad and Salmon return to 2000 forms. Finally have a DH in Fullmer, and Glaus is the best 3B in the league. Same old Texas.

MVP: Magglio Ordonez, Chicago
Cy Young: Barry Zito, Oakland
Rookie: Hank Blalock, Texas
Comeback: Frank Thomas, Chicago
Manager: Art Howe, Oakland

NL East
Atlanta
New York
Florida
Philadelphia
Montreal

Very tough division. Atlanta has the best outfield in the majors, all 3 will be all-stars. The Mets are the sentimental wild card choice, but if the pitching doesn't live up to the potential all 5 starters have (excluding Leiter), it could be a long season. I still say trading Appier was a mistake. Florida could contend for the wild card if all of their young pitchers have breakthrough seasons, which I don't see happening. Penny and Dempster will win 15, but Burnett and Clement still have work to do. Beckett will have a great start but get hurt in May. Philadelphia will be the big disappointment. Rolen will be a big distraction and have an off year, and their staff does nothing for me. Montreal as usual has a few great players in Guerrero, Vazquez, Vidro and Cabrera but after that there's just nothing there.

NL Central
St. Louis
Chicago
Houston
Cincinnati
Pittsburgh
Milwaukee

I hate having to jump on the Cards' bandwagon, but they really are the best NL team. Not having to deal with the daily media distraction that was Mark McGwire will be huge, as will getting some production out of the 1B position, and having Pujols steady in at 3B. Only offensive weakness is they don't really have a LF, but the same could be said of the last few Yankee teams. Matheny is a gold-glove catcher and any offense out of him will be a bonus. Woody Williams will have a very good year in his first full year in St. Louis and will take over the ace after Morris struggles a bit. Kile, Stephenson and Smith make for a very deep staff, and they've got the deepest pen in the league with Veres, Timlin, Kline, Benes, Matthews, and finally they have a closer. If Kerry Wood starts 33 games the Cubs will win the wild card, but I don't see this happening. Lieber will not have as good a year and the Cubs' bullpen was weak before TOM Gordon got hurt, and is now even weaker. Have a great 3-4-5 tandom, but after that, there is no offense. Oswald and Miller will crash for Houston and not even their offense will be able to bail them out. Bagwell will have an off year following surgery, though Berkman will put up MVP numbers. Cincinnati has no pitching but their offense is decent with Griffey and Adam Dunn having big years, which will win them some games, especially over Pittsburgh and Milwaukee, who as usual have no hope.

NL West
Los Angeles
San Francisco
Arizona
San Diego
Colorado

Kevin Brown will finally have a healthy, 30-start season. Very deep staff with a healthy Dreifort, Ashby, Nomo, Perez, and Ishii. No closer but I think Quantrill will get the job and get the job done, until they get Alfonseca. Shawn Green will be the NL MVP carrying the offense with great seasons by a healthy Adrian Beltre, Brian Jordan, Paul Lo Duca, and a much better season from Karros. San Francisco made some very good improvements with Sanders and Bell, but nothing much to bolster a mediocre rotation. Schilling will get hurt and only start 15-20 games. Johnson will carry the load and keep them in it, but Helling, Anderson, and Stottlemyre won't. Offensively, Gonzalez will come back to reality and have around a 30-100 season, but Williams' injury and losing Sanders will hurt. The offense will really struggle all season. San Diego is always competitive and will hover around .500 again this season. Need some pitching to be really competitive. Colorado wil never ever ever win as long as they play in that city and in that ballpark. Any pitcher that signs with that team is just in it for the money.

MVP: Shawn Green, LA
Cy Young: Randy Johnson, Ari
Rookie: Sean Burroughs, SD
Comeback: Richard Hidalgo, Hou
Manager: Jim Tracy, LA

AL Playoffs:
Yankees 3, Mariners 2
A's 3, White Sox 0

Yankees 4, A's 2

NL Playoffs
Cardinals 3, Mets 2 :(
Dodgers 3, Braves 1

Cardinals 4, Dodgers 1

World Series
Yankees 4, Cardinals 2. Series tied 2-2, Larussa will do something extremely stupid in game 5.
UGH I just picked the Yankees. I have to go take a cold shower.

AL East: Yankees
AL Central: White Sox
AL West: Mariners
AL Wild Card: A's

(Yup, it's 2000 all over again)

NL East: Braves (as a Met fan, I've given up on predicting beating them until we finally do)

NL Central: Astros
NL West: D'backs
NL Wild Card: Mets

(Yes, the Cards won't make it. FUCK YOU! I'm tired of everyone predicting them. That pitching staff is injury prone coming off a year they had little injuries. That means the injuries are a comin' this year, as that's how things tend to even out. And some additions are either not as good as people make them out to be [Izzy is the white Benitez] or are guys who tend to have alternating years of being good and sucking dick, coming off a year they kicked ass, meaning it's time to suck dick [Tino Martinez]. I just have a BAAAAAAD feeling on the experts' pick to win it all.)

NL MVP: Roberto Alomar
AL MVP: with a breakout year, Magglio Ordonez

NL CY YOUNG: Oswalt (is that how you spell it?)
AL CY YOUNG: P. Martinez

NL Rookie of the Year: the Japanese pitcher Ishii signed by the Dodgers
AL Rookie of the Year: Nick Johnson

Playoffs:

ALDS:

Yankees over A's for the 800th year in a row: 3-2

White Sox over M's: 3-1

NLDS:

Mets over Astros (#1 seed and losing again, as always. Different manager, same October results): 3-1

D'backs over Braves: 3-0

ALCS:

Yankees over White Sox: 4-2

NLCS:

Diamondbacks over Mets: 4-2

World Series:

Diamondbacks over Yankees: 4-1

Alot of repeat performances from the past two or three years. I hope not. Usually, I predict a few surprises, and got the Cardinals right two years ago DAMMIT!, but the only surprise I see is the Cards languishing in mediocrity. I hope there are positive surprises instead this year, cuz nobody wants to see the same ol' shit, unless it's the Yanks losing to the D'backs again, like I predict :-D

Ok Now its time for the OFFICIAL predictions to come in. Before we get to this years predictions, lets relive a little magic from last year shall we.

Heres an excerpt from last year's Predictions Thread......

2001 WORLD SERIES
Arizona over NY Yankees in 7

2001 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS
Arizona Diamondbacks

Thats right Arizona Diamondbacks, bet you wont hear that anywhere else. I love the Johnson-Schilling combo, where if they get into the Playoffs that will be a hard thing to stop. Plus they have one of the best closers in the game in Mantei. I expect a come back season from Matt Williams. They can use another bat out there, and with the money that Jerry Colangelo has, Im sure if they are in contention, they can get it. Sure its a Darkhorse pick, but its better than saying the Yankees.

Ok so here we go with 2002.....

2002 Major League Baseball Predictions

NL EAST
1. Atlanta Braves 95-67 -
2. New York Mets 91-71 4
3. Florida Marlins 84-78 11
4. Philadelphia Phllies 79-83 16
5. Montreal Expos 70-92 25

NL CENTRAL
1. St. Louis Cardinals 99-63 -
2. Houston Astros 90-72 9
3. Chicago Cubs 88-74 11
4. Cincinnati Reds 78-84 21
5. Pittsburgh Pirates 68-94 31
6. Milwaukee Brewers 66-96 33

NL WEST
1. San Francisco Giants 91-71 -
2. Arizona Diamondbacks 89-73 2
3. Los Angeles Dodgers 83-79 8
4. Colorado Rockies 77-85 14
5. San Diego Padres 75-87 16

AL EAST
1. New York Yankees 98-64 -
2. Boston Redsox 88-74 10
3. Toronto Blue Jays 80-82 18
4. Baltimore Orioles 63-99 35
5. Tampa Bay Devil Rays 60-102 38

AL CENTRAL
1. Cleveland Indians 86-76 -
2. Chicago Whitesox 84-78 2
3. Minnesota Twins 80-82 6
4. Detroit Tigers 71-91 15
5. Kansas City Royals 69-93 17

AL WEST
1. Anaheim Angels 94-68 -
2. Seattle Mariners 93-69 1
3. Oakland A's 91-71 3
4. Texas Rangers 84-78 10

NATIONAL LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES
Cardinals over Mets in 3
Braves over Giants in 5

AMERICAN LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES
Yankees over Mariners in 5
Angels over Indians in 4

NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Cardinals over Braves in 7

AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Yankees over Angels in 5

2002 WORLD SERIES
Cardinals over Yankees in 7

2002 WORLD CHAMPIONS
St. Louis Cardinals

I expect a Great World Series between the Yankees and Cardinals, I find these two teams to clearly be the best teams in their respective leagues and it will be hard for any team to knock them off. It will be interesting in the World Series to see Tino Martinez return to the Bronx and haunt his former team.

My darkhorse Pick for this year like my Arizona Championship pick of last year, is in the AL West where I am going with the Angels to win the Division over the Mariners and A's. Its unfortunate because after the Yankees, those 3 next teams in the AL West are the best teams in the American League. And then you have the AL Central, where none of those teams are playoff worthy.

The AL West should be an exciting race, and even Texas is no slouch, but their lack of pitching will cost them in the end.

As far as the Mets are concerned, I was excited about them early on, but lately Ive been a bit more concerned, there is just too many question marks on that team. From the durability and strength of the Starting Rotation, to the health and performance of Mo Vaughn. Alfonzo is a question mark, Will Piazza be able to avoid a major injury, since he is very injury prone behind the plate? I still think they pull off the Wildcard, but I would not be shocked at all if they do not make the playoffs.

Okay, here are my picks for the 2002 season, broken down by division. (i cant believe that FB picked the DBacks to miss the playoffs....)

AL East (weakest division in baseball)
1. Yankees
2. Red Sox
3. Blue Jays
4. Devil Rays
5. Orioles

Geez, 3 of the 5 teams in this division are pathetic, and the red sox...well they are the red sox, enough said. I do think the Sox will be the wild card, i would not be shocked if they won the division either. They have made some good offseason moves, and I wouldnt be surprised if Manny Ramirez is the AL MVP at the end of the year.

AL Central (2nd weakest division in baseball)
1. Twins
2. White Sox
3. Indians
4. Tigers
5. Royals

This will be the feel good story of the year, with the Minnesota Twins winning this division and making the playoffs after they were almost contracted by that idiot Bud Selig. They have the pitching (any time that Rick Reed is your #4 starter, that says something), they have team spped on the basepaths, and their hitting is very underrated. Their only problem is LaTroy Hawkins, but he isnt TOO bad of a closer. Plus, in this weak division, their team should have enough to hold off the White Sox. BTW, Frank Thomas will not last 75 games this year.

AL West (2nd strongest division in basebsll)
1. Mariners
2. A's
3. Rangers
4. Angels

This pennant race will be fun to watch, as i would not be surprised if the last place team is within 8 games at the end of the year. I like the M's, just because they are pretty much the same team as last year, plus a better 3B in Cirillo. They should be fine. A's will obviously miss Giambi.

AL Divisional Playoffs:
Twins over Yanks : 3-1
M's over Red Sox : 3-2

AL Championship:
M's over Twins : 4-2

AL MVP: Manny Ramirez
AL Cy Young: Joe Mays
AL ROY: Hank Blalock

NL East (toughest division in baseball)
1. Mets
2. Braves
3. Phillies
4. Marlins
5. Expos

Forget the Expos for a sec...these 4 teams all could win the division, with Florida being the weakest of the 4. I really think that this is the year that the Mets finally overtake the Braves in the standings. The Braves have Maddux and Glavine, but they lost Burkett, and Millwood will not have the big year that they are looking for. Smoltz as the closer, and their dangerous OF are their positives, but i really think that the Mets will take them this year. I know the Mets have a lot of "IF's", but they have a lot of definites too, such as Roberto Alomar being the NL MVP, and Mike Piazza killing the ball with the protection that he has around him. Phillies will be good, Rolen is in his contract year, so he will be insanely good. Pitching wont hold up though.

NL Central (4th toughest division in baseball)
1. Cubs
2. Cardinals
3. Astros
4. Reds
5. Brewers
6. Pirates

Pretty damn good division here as well. I think the Cubs will be the team to beat, but i think the Cards will be right there. Both teams will make the playoffs (that means no Atlanta). The Cubs have Alfonseca as a closer, great SP, great middle relief, and Sosa (MVP), Alou, and McGriff. What more do you want? The Cards obviously have a great offense, with MVP candidate J.D. Drew having a breakout year this year. But, i know they got Izzy, but he isnt too dominant. Anybody know which team had the most blown saves last year?...Yep, it was the A's, and Izzy was the victim. Astros are good, but not good enough in this division.

NL West (3rd toughest division in baseball)
1. D'Backs
2. Dodgers
3. Giants
4. Padres
5. Rockies

DBacks are still the team to beat. They now have 2 great starters and 2 solid ones, instead of just 2 great ones. Batista and Heilling will be great with that team, and the offense should be just like last year, with Finley improving a lot, and Luis killing the ball. Giants = overrated. Dodgers have the pitching, but probably not enough offense to win the division. Beltre will have a good year for them, and Ishii will be ROY.

NL Divisional Playoffs:
Mets over Cardinals : 3-2
Cubs over DBacks : 3-1

NL Championship:
Cubs over Mets : 4-3

NL co-MVP : Roberto Alomar/Sammy Sosa
NL Cy Young : Jon Lieber
NL ROY : Ishii

World Series:
M's over Cubs 4-1.

M's are just too damn good, and the losing streak will continue for the Cubbies. But, at least they will be in the World Series, and that is pretty good if you ask me.

BRAVES!!! Because nobody thinks so and nobody cares! Since it isn't expected that they will even win their division, that's why they'll win. For a change, they're the underdogs. (Cmon, most of you think that the Mets are running away with that division) Not that it wouldn't be nice to see the Phillies do it, but lets be real.

Yeah. wait, what?

The last time the Braves were underdogs was 1991. They are still the favorites to win their division this year, and I don't think any team will be running away with the division; it's too deep.

Out of 11 Predictions in this Thread, the Braves are picked 6 times and the Mets are picked 5.

Your right. Everybody is picking the Mets.

The Braves are no underdogs, everywhere I see predictions being made, the Braves are still the team to beat in the Division.

Sorry guys, to tell you the truth, I don't even remember posting that. It is a deep division which is cool, because it will be an interesting and fun season. (by the way, 1991 was kinda fun and maybe I was missing that)

Logic still has Braves as NL's best team (with Sheffield pickup), but that's no fun;

This is year Braves pitching finally regresses.
Glavine & Maddox lived on reputation last year, but they seem to have been affected by the new strike zone.

Mets will luck out in most of new pick-ups -
Astascio, Estes are especially key.

Mets - 96 Wins, Braves 93

Nice to see OAAWITE's post back here; it was kinda empty without it. :-D
