O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | What a move for the Rangers, all we gave up was a couple of draft picks, and that fool Ulanov. I guess i'll take back some of those "Glen Sather is a retard" comments now. O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | First off, Pavel is a great addition, and will make the team better for not only this year, but next as well. And second, it will be even more hilarious when the Isles get swept in the 1st round of this year's playoffs. O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 00 | First off, good for the Rangers. Secondly, the Isles aren't gonna get swept this year, ESPECIALLY if they play Carolina, as it stands now. Third, why don't you just worry about the Ragners being in the top 9 before saying anything. [email protected] Currently a student at Franklin Pierce College. Go Ravens! Panthers forward Pavel Bure has been traded to the New York Rangers for Filip Novak, Igor Ulanov, a first round pick in 2002, and a switch of second round picks in 2003. Someone wanna make me a sig? O&A Board Regular Registered: Jul. 00 | Visit this Website I don't see Bure being the type of acquisition that can give a team that extra boost come playoff time. Correct me if I'm wrong but has he been on a team that's made it past the 1st round since '94? Of course this, is a totally different team and situation, so hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I went out for a couple of minutes and look what I missed..... Panthers must have realized that Rangers were only team that wanted Bure. I'm surprised that they didn't have to give up York. Novak will be a good player, but he is unsigned (must be signed by May or go back in pool), and Rangers have other good young defensemen in (Mottau and Patrick Aufiero among others). 2002 pick may turn out to be high pick if they can't get their act together. But giving up Ulanov is like getting another player. I coudn't imagine anyone wanting him. Bure is a difference maker - he needs to have Mark Messier kick his ass a few times though (or maybe just send him to Brighton Beach and let them convince him to play hard). As far as being official, it's on the Rangers web site now Russian Rocket lands in NY This message was edited by PeterDragon on 3-18-02 @ 9:44 PM

Now only problem is getting into the playoffs. They are 2 points behind Montreal and Montreal has 1 game in hand. If the Rangers get in they are a team that is going to be very dangerous. You ask Philly or whoever ends up in the #1 seed, who they want to play in the 1st Round, the Rangers or Montreal? They better beat Vancouver tomorrow night, no excuses. Incidentally, Im curious to see what number Bure will wear. Will McCarthy hand over #10? Will he go back to the #96 he wore for a couple of years, or will it be something new? We shall find out tomorrow. Who would have thought after the 94 Stanley Cup Finals, that one day Messier would be a Canuck, and Bure would be a Ranger. O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | quote: Not only does he land Bure, but he waits out Fla until the deal goes down. I always hate giving up young talent for a 30 yr old, but how can you complain here? just taking Ulanov was a brilliant move. MSG showed again the Penalty shot Bure had vs. Richter in 1994 cup finals. What memories. It's also good that Bure wants to be here, unlike past Free agents who just took the money. The complaints about Bure's defense is like complaints that Mike Piazza doesn't throw out runners - that is not what they are there for. I think that if there was any doubt that Rangers don't pick up Fleury option next year, that ended here. It will help paying Bure's salary, and maybe allow a pick up of a Holik or Guerrin

Psychopath Registered: Aug. 01 | Does this mean that Annna Kournikova will be spending more time in the city? That is the biggest benefit of the trade, I think. It will make the Rangers a playoff team next year and helps if Lindros doesn't come back. They are screwed for draft picks, they owe the Flyers a first rounder too. "Somebody took my phone number and called Afghanistan. Afghanistan! I've never talked to anyone in Afghanistan, I don't know nobody in Afghanistan, and even if did know anyone, I wouldn't talk to that Afghan ass for three hours! I won't talk to my daddy for three hours."

The only ones that I can think of that have turned into great players are, Kovalov, Richter, Leetch, Amonte, Tony Granato(semi star). All the draft picks have turned out to be average or just busts Overall....the bure trade was a steal and should at least give us a Rangers Vs. Flyers first round matchup VOS IS ABOUT AS FUNNY AS GETTING A PAPERCUT ACROSS THE TIP OF YOUR MULE AND THEN DIPPING IT IN LEMON JUICE!!!!

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | quote: The common thread in those picks are that they weren't Sather deals. Novak looks like he will be good; compared by some to Sergei Gonchar of the Washington Capitals. Lundmark had tough start, but good 2nd half a hartford. Mottau was AHL all-star, and looks good. Blackburn has been pretty good in goal. there are more, but Sather has only started. Having said that, if you give up potential for one of the top players, you have to do it in a flash.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Dont think that this is too big of a deal, but i just wanted to let everyone know that Bure's new number will be #9. He was afraid that he might offend Adam Graves, who used to wear it, but Graves told him he could use it. Didnt feel like putting a big article here just for that info, so go to yahoo or another website if you want the story. O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01 | Hah, Bure is a great hockey player, Ulanov didn't add any talent to the Rangers so pretty much this deal was in favor of the Rangers. The Bure brothers weren't effective, but I didn't expect the Panthers to give him up for so little.
