O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I am not a guy who generally watches golf, but I'm a little psyched that their playing the open at Bethpage State Park on LI. Golf is mostly an elitist sport, but there are plenty of middle class duffers who head out to courses. For those of you who don't know, Bethpage Black is one of the public golf courses here on LI. Greens fees are around $39, as opposed to some private courses with $400 greens fees. It's kind of a kick that the best in the world will be playing on the same course that I've been on. It's also given a little pride to the middle class neighboorhoods that surround the course. Nice effort by PGA. 2002 Crack Committee Objectives: (modified version)(You gotta try and believe....) 1.Hate the Braves with PASSION and extreme prejudice 1a. Try and go a week without having to punch a wall in frustration after watching the Mets play 2. 90 Wins and somehow get the Mets into playoffs this year 3. All 5 Starters have winning records this year 3a.Have team understand it is OK to get a hit with runners on base. 4. Mets win World Series (after divine intervention)

Psychopath Registered: Apr. 01 | I try to onlypost about something I know about and I definately know about Bethpage Black. I played it in '94, before Rees Jones redesigned it. I didn't think it was as difficult as some people said it would be. However, I have played it 5 times in the last two seasons, post Jones, and I think it's gonna be a good test for the best golfers in the world. Somewhere around 4-8 under par should win; I don't think the winner will be in double-digits under par. I heard they've been averaging 50,000 people per day to watch the practice rounds. That's f'n unbelievable! No. 12 is gonna be a dirty, rotten, nasty, smelly bitchrag of a par 4. I think it's gonna be a great U.S. Open.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I work just off pinelawn road, and so far traffic hasn't been bad. (of course if you live in LI your interpretation of bad traffic is different than most of the country). As for the course, I've only played a couple of times before the re-design - mostly because wait on blue was too long. It should definitely be interesting. -(or at least as interesting as golf can get ;) 2002 Crack Committee Objectives: (modified version)(You gotta try and believe....) 1.Hate the Braves with PASSION and extreme prejudice 1a.
