| Forsberg undergoes emergency surgery
Associated Press
DENVER -- Colorado Avalanche star Peter Forsberg will be out for the rest of the playoffs after he underwent surgery to have his spleen removed, a team source said Thursday.
Forsberg, who leads the Avalanche in scoring, needed surgery after Colorado defeated the Los Angeles Kings 5-1 Wednesday to advance to the Western Conference finals. Forsberg was coughing up blood after the victory.
Team officials declined to comment immediately on the report and scheduled an afternoon news conference to provide additional details.
The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the surgery.
It is third time in the playoffs this season that the Avalanche have been without a key player.
Half assing it.

| I was going to go with St. Louis before I heard this news. Now that Forsberg is out, there are going to be alot of happy faces in St. Louis as they are headed to at least the Stanley Cup Finals. The Kings took too much out of the Avalanche, and the Forsberg injury is going to be a tough thing to overcome, against a destined team like the Blues.
