| O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00  | Who do they get rid of.....Who stays?? I'll start by saying Graves and his 23 points in 62 games has to go. Unless he's willing to be a 4th line checker. Graves is one of the better people in hockey but he's a meer shadow of his 50 goal performance in 1993-94 season. The Czech line of Hlavac, Nedvd, and Dvorak stays. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Well, they gotta do alot. I would start off with DEFENSE & Goaltending. Their Defense is disgusting. With Mike Richter hopefully well by opening day and back to normal, that'll be a boost. But they have to get some Defenseman. Brian Leetch is NOT a #1 defenseman, and IMO is one of the most overrated defenseman in the NHL. They have to get some defensive defenseman and build up a core of defenseman. Then everything will fall into place. Goals will come, Wins will come, and not hopefully they'll make the playoffs. Rangers Suck!  | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | I don't think Leetch is the most overrated palyer in hockey...What is he going to do when he is the only defenseman capable of playin NHL hockey?? That's why his +/- is outragous..he has to take chances because no other defender can rush the puck. I realize he isn't the player he was 5 years ago but he is not there problem. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Boonsy, he should try playing some defense. His career +/-??? A massive 843 points, and only a +23??? What the hell is that??? Scott Niedermayer, who averages close to 27 minutes a game has 338 points in his career, has a +112 for his career. That's a defesenman. Scott Stevens? Plays about 25-30 minutes against the top guys in the league and his career +/-, with 850 points, a + 336. Rangers Suck! | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 01 | over the past 3 years the rangers goals against have been alot more than goals for and being the NUMBER ONE defenseman that he is on the ice more than half the game that's why his plus-minus isn't very high...although i am a huge ranger fan i'll admit broduer is a better goalie than richter and he has more shutouts than richter. richter hasn't had a shut out since i think 97 or 98. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Brian Leetch also has 2 Norris Trophy's and possibly a 3rd one this year. Also he has a Conn Smythe Trophy under his belt. Ever since Beukeboom left he hasht had anybody to play with. He has played alright with Pilon, but over the past couple of years with players like Kevin Hatcher and Mathieu Schneider, He is the Rangers Defense. So his plus-minus sucks, but you know what. Its not going to be so great, when your team is losing. He plays 30 minutes a night, the Rangers lose most nights, thats why his plus/minus sucks. He also leads Defensemen in scoring. And not only is he a #1 Defensemen. He is still one of the Top 3 or 5 Defensemen in the league. Now as far as the Rangers making the playoffs next season. Go out and get a Top Name Free Agent like Sakic, and dont bother giving middle line guys big money like they did with Kamensky and Malakhov. If you can dump the old guys do so, Play Brendl, Lundmark, Mottau, Kloucek, Purinton, Malhotra and the kids and mix them up with some of the vets like Messier and Fleury. Theres a good chance a team like Detroit or St. Louis is going to make a move for Graves at the deadline.  | ||||

(Who the fuck cares) I would take Scott Stevens over Leetch any day of the week, and twice on Sunday! As for making the playoffs next year, it's obvious that Rangers fans are throwing in the towel already. How about they make the playoffs when they BEAT THE DEVILS! It's an award to the Defenseman with the highest points (well not directly but basically), Three Defenseman (used to have four) on the Devils are better than Leetch and they have no trophys. | Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 01 | silent your joking........right? even though nobody in new york would want this but the rangers should look more towards 2 -3 years down the line...developing the young talent is key...trading it away for older proven guys pays off for about 2 years....look at the devils rafalski, niedermayer, sykora, broduer, holik, gomez and alot more have come through thier system and are now making them the stanley cup contenders every year that they are. if the rangers do what the devils did they'll be back there in a few years. hey i know it's not gonna be fun watching them play like the islanders but they are only a few steps above them right now | ||||

Yeah that makes sense. And Cart have you watched any of the games, they arent making the playoffs. They are too far behind and would have to play unconcious hockey the rest of the way. | ||||

I love the NYR so much that I have blinded myself to any criticism of the team and I never give up EVER ????? The NYR can do it. They start winning some games, Boston and Carolina start loosing and we are in. We have been playing some really great hockey but we have to overcome the 3rd period. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Moral Victories dont count as Points in the Standings. They played good games against Philadelphia and Ottawa but does it matter. No. Because they got 0 points out of it. Not to mention the Rangers still have alot of tough games on their schedule including 2 games at the Devils, another game in Philadelphia, another game vs. Pittsburgh, another game in Ottawa. They have Detroit to play. And they have to beat out 2 TWO! Teams, Not one. | ||||
