We lost to a great team, despite giving them a game or two. And besides we are Conference and Division Champs. That's not bad. And look at the future. My god, we can be hoisting the cup again next year. We are built for the future. The Rangers aren't going to win dick next year. And I find it hard to believe the AVS can keep them all together to win next year. WE have a great chance. Look at our core. At least the Devils didnt get completely embarassed in game seven...we scored a goal! Yeah! Of course, there was no way Colorado was gonna give up a three goal lead, but hey, at least we got the meaningless score that made the game at least look a little more respectable. What does this team need to do for next year? Well, number one, they gotta stop reading about how good they are and start playing like they are actually good. At times in this series they dominated. Unfortunately, not enough. Colorado was fairly consistent throughout. Oh, and get rid of Brodeur. His run is over. I dont wanna see him in net anymore. Can he stand on his head and win a game for us? Well, he doesnt see many shots so his concentration...lets see if someone else can concentrate, huh? Im tired of seeing the other team shoot under 20 shots on goal and, oh look, the Devils lose 3-1. He an average goaltender with above average puck handling skills. Oh, and I guess the dynasty is over. The more I heard people discussing the Devils "place in history" on the radio and the more I heard everyone saying the Devils should win this one the more I KNEW they would blow it. Absolutely KNEW it. Two of the four losses in this final were and embarrassment. Did the Devils show up for games one and six?? Didnt really look like it. Nice how they gave up after the first period in game six. Good heart there. This whole playoff year this team showed far too little grit and heart. Losing two games to Carolina? Going to a seventh game against Toronto? Losing game one of the STANLEY CUP FINALS 5-0?? How do you lose the first game of the FINALS 5-0??? And thats the most frustrating thing...cause it was there. This isnt the Knicks-Spurs a few years ago. This isnt a team that should be content just getting there. Because all year weve heard how good this team is. Well, shit, noones gonna read all this crap. Maybe this loss and the knowledge that if they had played harder and smarter they might have been hoisting the Cup will propell the Devils to the Finals again next year. And maybe next time theyll win it. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Here you go people! I am a devoted Devils fan, and will be completely honest and unbiased here. I have every game on tape, and if I were to review the tapes, it would show me one thing: The Avs were the better team. They hit better, skated better, scored better. Marty, my favorite player, had a god awful series. His save percentage was well below 90%, not typical Brodeur. He seemed very tentative in Games 6 & 7. If we were injured, he should not have played, IMO. Once they lost Game 6, I must admit, I thought they would bounce back. They didn't. The Avs definitely earned the prized Cup this year. All I can say is I hope the Devs make the necessary adjustments to challenge for the Cup next year.
