O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | You have to love Steinbrenner, the greatest owner in Sports. And Mets fans, the Mets have the money, the cheap bastards that run the organization don't want to spend anymore. Source: Deal could be worked out within days Fresh off the Yankees' bullpen collapse Sunday against the Mets, Newsday is reporting the Bronx Bombers are working on a deal that would bring Expos closer Ugueth Urbina to New York. Minor-league infielder D'Angelo Jimenez was kept out of both games of Triple-A Columbus' doubleheader at Syracuse on Sunday, and the Yankees did so with the intent of dealing him shortly for Urbina, according to a source familiar with the trade talks, Newsday reported. The Expos had originally wanted Jimenez and pitcher Randy Keisler in return for Urbina. But with the Yankees' injury problems (two-fifths of the starting rotation is on the DL), they Yankees can't afford to give up Keisler, who now is essentially their fourth starter. Instead, they probably will include another minor-league pitcher, Newsday reported. The source told Newsday the deal could be worked out within the next couple of days. "Obviously, we need other people to get outs for us in the bullpen," Torre said. Sunday night, Torre's primary relievers (Mariano Rivera and Mike Stanton) were spent, and could only watch the rest of the bullpen give up six runs to the Mets in the eight inning of a 8-7 loss. Urbina, 27, is 0-1 with a 4.55 ERA and nine saves in 31 games this season. Urbina, who recorded 102 saves from 1997-99, is making $4.2 million this season, and the prorated portion of that salary would make the Yankees' payroll the highest in baseball, a title George Steinbrenner didn't want but apparently is willing to take, Newsday reported.

This is just another reason to hate the Yanks. They buy their talent, and when the bought talent sucks, they buy some more. "Now the seasons over, and I feel it gettin' cold. I wish I could take you to some sandy beach road, we'ed never grow old. Ah but baby you know thats just jive, but tonight's bustin' open and.... Steinbrenner actually cares about winning and not just making a profit. Name another owner that is willing to do whatever it takes to make his team a consistent winner and not just fatten their wallets.

Maybe if they had some self pride and confidence they wouldnt have to make moves every year to get the best players. Seattle will beat them anyway. O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Yeah the reason the Mets did not get Alex Rodriguez was because he wanted lots of billboards. You Mets fans are such f'n tools. You guys have an awful lot of money, you just spend it foolishly. Steinbrenner does not care about how much profit he makes. He cares about giving himself and his fans a winner year in and year out. Here is a perfect example of one of the richest men in America, not caring about the team or the city, the COlorado Avalanche. Read this and your opinion on Steinbrenner might change.
