| So now that the Islanders have both (Alexei Yashin - Ottawa Winger) and Michael Peca (Buffalo Center - Captain) after trades this weekend. Do you think Opies curse can STILL make them losers?

| I have been lurking for a year or so (before the new look), anyway I have never posted outside of GD and did not scroll down far enough. Oh well . . . At least I did not post it in GD!

| He has to be considered one of the Great Competitors and one of the better checking/defensive-minded Centers in the league. I just wonder about team chemistry . . .
Never mind, the Isles have no chemistry!

| As long as MR WANG and MR KUMAR open the wallets and sign both of them we are going to look pretty good. :) Hopefully this will make other vets want to come to the Island.. Hey we can't get any worst can we? Of course I did have a nightmare last night that Milbury can;t sign either guy and they start having pissy fits all season and we lose 60 games again...
AHH the joy of being a life long Islanders Fan :)

| Peca, Yashin, and.................................
They have all youngsters that will have to learn how to play with the big boys now. I expect a decent season, nothing special. But next year when their draft picks from last year play, I expect a cup.

| 2 Quick points:
One - Both have said that they are EXTREMELY excited about the opportunity to help turn around the franchise.
Two - They would have never made those moves if there were a problem with signability (it really is a word in the sports world).
Also one more if they could only pick up a solid veteran defenseman (Hatcher-type) and maybe a solid checking winger (Claude Lemeuix-type) they would be a Wildcard type of contender next season!
Also other than the Free-Agents from the Aves whom aren't going anywhere, there are a ton of Second Tier free agents that could definitely help them (shit Penguins alone have 20 Free-Agents to sign).
Beyond that they definitely need to develop chemistry (see the NY Rangers) and the coaches are going to have to EARN their pay this year to make them contenders, but it is possible!

When you are a fan you expect a cup every year.

| I was listening to the Rick Ballou show on AM 620 the other night and he said something incredible. I know it's very unrealistic, but he predicted Jagr would either go to the Islanders or the Rangers. I realize the Rangers are more likely, but we would be unstoppable with Jagr. Who knows? Maybe the Rangers won't sign Jagr if they get Sakic. We would go from having no center a week ago to having 3 HUGE centers.

They suck every year. Then again the Islanders do also. But I like to look on the bright side of things. I expect the Mets to win a couple in a row and the Jets to go 15-1. High hopes, I have high hopes.

Uh, no, They have sucked for 4 years. Before that they were in the 2nd Round of the playoffs 4 consecutive years, and had a Stanley Cup and an Eastern Conference Finals appearance. They are usually in the playoffs and a competitive team, last 4 years excluded.
