O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Ok...that's supposed to be Fischler What do you think the deals will be or what devil players could they possibly consist of? I'm thinking Scott Gomez and at least Colin White. Possibly for Bondra or maybe even bringing Guerin back Kiss Me I'm Duff! This message was edited by Spuds_Buckley on 7-12-01 @ 11:09 PM

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Well if Stan Fischler says it then it Must Be True!!! Stan Fischler also said that when Mario Lemieux comes back its not going to matter because hes the biggest diver in Hockey and hes going to be spending all his time in the Penalty Box. In which Marv Albert correctly replied: "Thats the most ridiculous thing I ever heard" Dont take any stock into what Stan Fischler says.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 00 | very true punk. i wasn't thinking the devs specific situation, but only the remaining BIG names (as the title so aptly states). but upon further review, you might be on to something there, and hull will also give them some much needed playoff goals and something that they don't need as much but will still help - experience and leadership. granted, stevens is one of the best captains in the league, but a team could always use another locker room voice. Psychopath Registered: Jul. 01 | I absolutely despise the Devils so I don't even care what they're up to, although I seriously doubt they'll make any huge deals, they usually don't... but I just had to say that I agree with FrancineBanger. Stan Fischler is the biggest idiot in all of sports history, if he told me the Montreal Canadiens held the record in the NHL for the most Stanley Cup victories I wouldn't believe him. The man is a moron and he should be banned from speaking publicly!! Btw, no offense to all you Devil fans out there, I just can't stand them.... Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | Fischler is a fool. He's the schmuck who used to say that goalies shouldn't wear masks. Anyway, I am still a fan of dealing Gomez and Ahonen to Detroit in a bid to get Fedorov. Sergei would fit in tremendously in the Devils system. ------------------- But there's also this: there are over 5,000 men in this city, who know that being a policeman is an endless, glamourless, thankless job that's gotta be done. Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | The thing that gets me is how Fischler can cover hockey for ALL these years and still be completely oblivious to what's going on! As for Hull, perhaps I'm being a bit of an optimist here, being that I am a Canadiens fan, but I think there are better than 50/50 odds that Brett Hull might go to the Canadiens. The guy has a bizarre ego, and he HATES playing a defensive system. Now Larry Robinson is no Jacques Lemaire and he doesn't clamp down on the offense like Jacques did, but Brett Hull strikes me as a guy who likes to be the center of attention. Well if he went to Montreal he certainly would be the center of attention. In addition, while they were playing with the stars, the Canadiens now assistant coach Guy Carbonneau and Hull became friends. Carbo did some preliminary talking with Hull to see if he'd be interested in playing for the Habs. Obviously he is because Mike Barnett, Hull's agent has been talking with Canadiens GM Andre Savard about a contract. At least that's what LaPresse de Montreal and the Canadian Press wire service are reporting. Pretty crazy stuff! Now, yes, Hull has a better chance of winning a cup with the Devils, but he's a bit of a weird guy. He's no Ray Bourque, he's won the cup. I think he may think that he'd have more "fun" in Montreal. New Jersey, I don't think they'll do much, maybe they'll sign Claude Lemieux back? They've got plenty of youth that they can just keep bringing up through the organization and if they need something later Lou will just deal some of that youth away for it. And Psycho Bitch, FLYERS SUCK!!! :) "Lindros crosses into the Devils zone, OH MY, Scott Stevens with a vicious hit to Lindros..and...and i think Lindros is out" Rangers and Flyers, Partners is Ass-Sucking.

Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | They can replace Gomez. Sergei is a tremedous player who is one of the best two way forwards in the game today. He would fit in fine with the Devils system. And how the hell do you know how he is in the locker room? He got along good with a lot of the Detroit players from what I read. Plus, didn't everyone say the same thing about Mogilny? ------------------- But there's also this: there are over 5,000 men in this city, who know that being a policeman is an endless, glamourless, thankless job that's gotta be done. Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | This from TSN.ca (The Sports Network, Canada's version of ESPN): Habs have shot at Golden Brett (July 14) MONTREAL (CP) - Free agent winger Brett Hull says the race to sign him is wide open, and that the Montreal Canadiens have as good a chance as any other team to do it. ``I am listening to anyone who takes the trouble to call,'' Hull told Le Journal de Montreal from his home in Dallas. ``I would be crazy not to listen to the Canadiens. It's an organization with a long and rich tradition.'' Hull told the French-language tabloid that he was playing golf with ex-teammate - and current Canadiens assistant coach - Guy Carbonneau on Saturday. Carbonneau, who played with Hull in Dallas from 1998 to 2000, said last week he was going to Texas to court the sniper on behalf of the Habs. Hull's agent, Mike Barnett, told Le Journal from his home in southern California that there are six teams in the hunt for his client's services. ``Brett hasn't set any time limit,'' said Barnett. ``Brett wants to take all the time he needs to choose the team that suits him best for the final years of his career.'' -------------- Hmm, I seem to remember what happened after Roenick played golf with Recchi and Tocchet... But six teams, that's interesting. The obvious parties include: Montreal Canadiens New Jersey Devils Chicago Blackhawks New York Rangers Pittsburgh Penguins Anyone care to speculate on the sixth team? Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | Well, well, well... I think this might just go to show you that Brett Hull is a whooo-ah! ---- Tony Gallagher: Hull in talks with Vancouver The Province Tony Gallagher The Province You could say the Vancouver Canucks are kicking the tires on Brett Hull but it may be more a case of a poor kid looking in the window of a very expensive bakery. The Canucks spoke with Hull's agent Mike Barnett on the weekend and while neither he nor Vancouver general manager Brian Burke will say what was said, it is at least intriguing both sides felt sufficiently good enough about such a possibility so as to have a scheduled discussion. "I don't know what happened because I haven't talked to Mike yet but I know they were talking," said Hull. "He's up there (in Vancouver) now. But I'd be very enthusiastic about coming to a good young team like that. It would give me a huge adrenalin rush again which is what you can use at this stage of your career." Most insiders believe Hull would not come to any city in Canada other than Montreal, where his good friend from the Dallas Stars, Guy Carbonneau, might attract him. But Hull says he would have no problems coming here. "I'm not going to put any limits on like that," said Hull, who indicated he has had some direct discussions with Burke, his very first agent, although clearly price is a major stumbling block. The fact Hull has not yet signed is probably an indication the free-agent market has slowed somewhat, with the Rangers the team most likely to be seeking his services. But with New York having very little chance of winning in the near future, the Hull is less keen to land on Broadway, unless perhaps Eric Lindros precedes him. Hull's first choice is believed to be San Jose, followed closely by the Red Wings. But Sharks owner George Gund has been reluctant to come up with the cash and the Wings may have already spent themselves with their signings of Dominik Hasek and Luc Robitaille. Hull no longer thinks re-signing with Dallas is a possibility. The fact Burke and Dave Nonis have made Vancouver a viable landing spot for such a player a good indicator of the transition they have overseen with this team. Barnett, contacted in Calgary after having left Vancouver, confirmed the discussions but would not comment. "I'm not in any hurry to get this done because no matter where I end up I'm going to be a bargain," said Hull, who had 39 goals and 40 assists last year with a plus-10 rating with the Stars despite long stretches on the fourth line as he and coach Ken Hitchcock feuded. And while Hull would welcome the switch in style to Marc Crawford's more wide-open game, it's ultimately going to come down to money, which leaves Vancouver a longshot no matter who is saying what. Despite the wall of silence, one thing is clear. The longer Hull remains unsigned, the better the Canucks' chances. Graduated and Rooned by Rone on 6/16/01
