According to the woman's official police complaint, on July 16, during the time Tyson was in Big Bear, Calif., training for an upcoming fight, the former heavyweight champion assaulted her in his rented house in the area. The complaint was filed the next day. "We have an adult female on the 16th of July who had made an allegation that she was sexually assaulted by Mike Tyson," San Bernardino police official Frank Gonzales told Los Angeles television station KABC. "Our Sheriff's Department was made aware on the 17th of July." Tyson's attorney denies that an assault ever occurred, calling the charges "patently false." Darrow Soll met Monday with a sheriff's investigator and members of the San Bernardino County district attorney's office, Sgt. Frank Gonzales said. "From this point, they are cooperating with the investigation," he said Tuesday. "It's a positive sign that Mr. Soll came from Phoenix to California to discuss the issue." Gonzalez said he did not know details of the discussion. Soll said he is conducting his own investigation in cooperation with the district attorney's office. "We have scoured Big Bear Mountain and we believe all paths lead to exoneration ... it is not part of the official investigation," he said, declining to provide additional details. Susan Mickey, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office, said she did not know any details of the meeting and noted that the DA's office was not formally involved in the investigation. Sheriff's investigators "have kept them apprised of the situation" but "no case has been submitted to the office," Mickey said. A woman contacted the Sheriff's Department last week and alleged she was sexually assaulted by Tyson on July 16 at a Big Bear City home he rented during training. The 50-year-old woman lives in the area, Gonzales said, but declined to disclose other details. Sheriffs officials have not determined whether there was criminal wrongdoing and have yet to interview Tyson, who is training in Phoenix for a planned fight Sept. 8 with Danish boxer Brian Nielsen in Copenhagen. Investigators also want to interview three members of Tyson's entourage, Gonzales said. "We know they were in the area at the time," he said. "We want to get some statements from them. These three individuals may prove or disprove any of the allegations." He said it was unclear if the three were Tyson's friends or employees and did not have their names. They have since left the area 70 miles east of Los Angeles. Tyson served more than three years in an Indiana prison after being convicted in 1992 of rape and other charges.
