Quote:On a side note kid's activities these days are too organized. Nothing beats coming home from school getting changed and running out the door to play football or street hockey or whatever other game the kids in the neighborhood want to play. Of course if it was raining or snowing that was automatic cause for a phonechain to be activiated to announce a good ole game of football.
Abso-fucking-lutley!! I'm sick of these "I'm ok youre ok" feelings from parents towards little league baseball. Hey that 11 year old kid cant help it if your kids suck and he doesnt. plain and simple.
I remember when i played little league. I was a pretty damn good pitcher myself. I could hit the ball ok when i 1st started but my 1st love was pitching. cuz you're in control of the game when youre on that mound. In the league i played for, you could play until you were 13 but could only pitch until you were 12. It didnt follow the Williamsport rules completely because there were so many kids that wanted to play so the had to change the rules.
I remember my last two years in that league were fun as hell because we turned that team around after the 1st year i as on it. We had a real good team. anyway, when i would start to warm up i remember hearing the kids going "oh no JJ's pitching." Some kids didnt care cuz they thought they could hit me...lol but they were wrong of course. I threw my share of shutouts and struck out a good # of guys in the time i pitched. never got a no hitter though. cuz there was always that one hit to right field that would drop in or get dropped by the worst player that was out there. just couldnt be helped.
No parent or group of parents ever tried to get me kicked out of the league or banned from pitching though. But what did happen was the league president and vice president, who ran the other really good team, fired my father and the father of the other best player on my team because they thought that the kids were being pushed too hard to win. but the real reason was cuz they thought the other kid and i would quit. The kids play to win, pretty simple. i mean even in the real low levels of the league, the peewees, we kept score even if the coaches didnt.
All of it is just a joke anway. an outlet for parents to push their kids or give them somthing to do. God forbid the kids might actually want to win a game.
