IO is Cablevision's digital cable service.
OnDemand is a feature on it that allows you to call up shows - that they have selected - any time you want.
So that kinda answers the TiVo question too.... it doesn't replace the TiVo. They choose what is available to you. I pay the 5 bucks a month for HBO OnDemand, and found it extremely useful during Sopranos. Miss the episode, catch it whenever you want on OnDemand.
I've also done that with 24 a few times, they usually have about the last 5 episodes of 24 available.
