I think what is horseshit is your perception that just because there are rules of some sort clearly established and spelled out for all to read would result in the mods being hated.

But also, you have to anticipate being questioned when things are handled in a questionable fashion.

I've yet to see a reason to question Alkey for a reason - beause he says whats needs to be said WHEN it needs to be said. (and go ahead, call me a "kiss ass" but fuck y'all - I gots respect for that lush.)

FTL - GIP has questioned your tactics and you respond with an air of condecension and quite frankly, that's not a good way to convince folks that you have the capacity to handle the shit that hits the fan every so often. (and calling things "not a debate" "end of story" before a discussion has been fully carried out between all participating members of said "discussion"...uh, no good sir. At least, IMO.)

I think you DO have the capacity, once you get over that fear to lay the law down. BUT, when you do so, try and do so with a bit of tact/cooth and that should alleviate the potential of misinterpretation , aggrevation and horseshit being slung around.
