PS The cartoon I was thinking of with the assault weapons was called "The Centurions." It was pretty cool back in the day.
Awful cartoons from the 80's: Rambo , Chuck Norris's Karate Commandos, and that Mario one that was 15 mins cartoon and 15 mins live action starring Captain Lou Albano as Mario.
In regards to the lazy animating of cartoons, I remember a special from waaaay back in the day (20 years ago). I don't remember the name of it, but it was a Halloween special where the main character was a bear named Ted E. Bear and he had to go to fright mountain or scare mountain or something like that to show the monsters that he wasn't afraid. The animation was sooo bad that only the characters mouths were actually animated. They just replaced the whole picture of the character like once every five seconds. They would just have their heads + bodies change locations every 5 seconds. It was painful. Hopefully someone else has the name of this one.
