i'm too tired to read all this, kendall jackson shouldn't be more than $6 for a bottle, personally i like the pinot grigio, and i'll pay 8.99 for a bottle, but anything more it should be good stuff. (these are liquor store prices, of course, in a restaurant you're gonna pay about the price of a bottle for a glass) i can get you a bottle of lindemann's chardonnay or domaines de moulines merlot for cheap if ya like. i aspire to one day actually know what i'm talking about...
