you know morgan stanley, Goldman Sacs, Merril, all those guys who come up and issue ratings on stocks? "Morgan Stanley has issued an outperform or GE, with a price target of x because we feel blah blah blah". My company does that. However, you've never heard of them because unlike those guys we don't do any corporate finance or underwriting (IPOs, secondary offerings, etc). So, while all the other scummy guys on Wall ST were being hounded by Elliot Spitzer for publically recommending stocks that they privately dogged so their company could get i-banking revenues, my company was held up as a shining star.
I am in training for a sales position here, and during that training period, I read our research on a given sector, and then present it in a mock role play like they are a client. I recommend stocks, talk about the industry, etc. I have no idea what I am doing, and I have already failed two role plays. My last one was hospitals and HMOs, and now I'm doing medical devices.
Just because I am obsessed with money doesn't mean I make much of it.
